Looking at several local primary schools for my son who will start reception Sept 2011. We live between Rye lane & East Dulwich road.

I'm trying to keep an open mind, given that school reputations (good & bad) don?t always seem deserved. I?ve made visits, read the reports, stats & so on. Am aware that everyone has different experiences & that all children are different, but keen to hear from PTA members/parents of children at Rye Oak, Bellenden, St Johns & St Clements, St Mary Magdalene schools.

Especially to know if there might be any opportunities to meet PTA members ? Goose Green school PTA does regular coffee mornings, which is really helpful.

Thanks!

I can recommend Bellenden, my son is now in reception, following 1.5 years of Bellenden nursery and he's always been very happy there and now loves school! To the extent that he prefers school days over weekend... It's a lovely small school with caring staff and I feel that my son is being well looked after there. PM me if you wish to discuss.

    • Good luck, don't think you would find anyone selling controllers on here 🤣 What controller you using atm?
    • Four little goslings by the pond,  with their mum and dad keeping a close watch on them yesterday! It seems very early? Apparently they were born last week, and there were five then 😭 Let's hope the rest of them escape what I presume was the heron. Sorry just realised this should be on the nature watch thread, maybe admin could move it? Apologies.
    • I'm generally in favour and supportive of events like Gala, but this issue around vehicular access to the site does seem a bit concerning. Essentially, they are going to build a fenced off road/trackway right accross the cricket and Gaelic football pitches... is that right?  Hopefully they have a way of making that work which isn't too disruptive, but I can't envisage what that might be.
