Declan - adorable ? Were you talking to the same one as I was?

Noone told me you were there PGC, I was only there till 7ish, apologies I must have missed you. Saved some money on whiskey though, I guess. :)

Edited as posting under wrong name.

Mick Mac!

Had a great time, only my second drinks but glad I came, met quite a few more people including the brilliant Ladymuck and even another kiwi, big thankyou to Sean for organising this session and to Georgia for all your hard work in the past. I hope the CPT isn't your downfall :)

You've heard of the expression of 'horses for courses' Judy, no doubt? I think I was more the boree than the bored PGC when we spoke. You nearly had my life history and hardly abbreviated much either. You poor woman. Thanks Sean for organising and good to meet you.

Matthew, can we call it a draw? The '87 RWC Final WAS played in NZ but so was Wales' 3rd place play off match.

Nice to meet Daizie and young Katie6789 and of course LM. Are you planning on entering the Olympics in 2012?

Oh Judy, Judy, Judy, I live in dread if you expect me to drink whiskey. Only the real McCoy for me, old bean.

I'm not a very sociable bod, but I really enjoyed last night, so thanks to everyone for a great time.

Made it as a very late blow in. Knocking on the door of the Phoenix around midnight convinced a pairty was going on inside. Gladly found Georgia et al in EDT and had a couple of milk based products. Weegee, nice tae meet you. I was convinced you would be a wee hard guy fae glesga!

Im wearing my drinking cords today and will be out and about making up for lost time as working late last night. Annaj was hoping to see you as had just left the Royal Society of Medicine bar and was suitably inspired. That has now past!

Georgia, thanks for all your efforts. I only made a few drinks but always enjoyed them. They dont need to end just a new chairperson required (not me)

LASERS SET TAE MALKY.............CHARGE

I wont be buying you a drink unless i have the consolation prize of having a drink of my own while i watch you drink it.

fab night, some hilarious conversations, great to see everyone who was there - it was a good turnout :)-D

thanks so much to the lovely, kind person who walked the longer route home with me after the EDT - you are a star (tu)

oh and to those of you who shall remain nameless, hope the Black Cherry was fun ;-)

Thankfully my stalker is absolutely normal

But, Pickle, I told you, it's just the thinnest venner of normality...

Sorry not to have been able to stay longer, but it was lovely to see everyone I did catch early on.

First of all, I hope that you both (Georgia and Mr. Pallywotsitoos) enjoyed the evening: it was your night after all.

I have to say that this is close to being one of my favourite EDF drinks - so well done to Sean-the-owl for arranging.

As to the evening itself: one word - fabulous! I enjoyed catching up with and taking the "piss" out of many of the "old" faces. But meeting some newbies was equally pleasurable; such as Pickle, EDKiwi, PGC, Wilhelm, and last, but in no way least, fellow Man. U supporter and shining star of the evening: Narnia. PGC is spot on Narnia: you are adorable. Which reminds me, the 2012 Olympics? Nah, I was merely warming up in the event of another Midnight Race.

T, although we had said hello before, it was an absolute pleasure to get to know you better - Mark is a lucky fella (hear that Mark?).

My dear longstanding friend karter, I am so glad that, despite your exhausting day, you made it. It was a fantastic surprise to see both you and H, given the fact that you had said you wouldn't be coming.

And how could I forget to give a special mention to my personal escort home, who ensured I was well inside the house before setting off himself to some 10 or so houses further down. Thanks Weegee.

Just one hint of sadness: I was sorry to learn that you had already left by the time I arrived Mick Mac.

And apologies (alas there are always apologies) to Nicky for calling you Emma and to Daizie for scoffing most of your kebab.:-$

Do pardon the verbosity, but it all needed to be said.

Yes was a cracking night out last night. I hadnt been to a EDF drinks for a while and glad I popped along last night. Great to see the regulars down there last night including Michael, Sean , Sue, Raj , Georgia, FloatingOnion.

Also nice to see Dave, Kels, Geo.

Daizie I now know who you are....and wont mix you up with Sue again!

Narnia and Katie1997 lovely to meet you for the first time. Narnia, ManU supporter...mmm i wonder if he heard my comment about Ladymucks ManU scarf!!

Ladymuck it was my pleasure to walk you home. Im glad that you didnt want to sprint all the way home...like you did from the Phoenix. Narnia and I watched your gallant dash up the hill....and you made it in record time to EDT..like 10 mins after we arrived by bus??

Help-Ma-Boab,nice to meet you as well. We were all very curious as to what in your case? Yes I can confirm ...definately Im definately not from Glasgow....and not a lassie as some other forumites thought!! LOL

I have suffered today with the mother of all hangovers...and drove the family to Essex for a birthday party today....

but ooh the pain was worth the pleasure of a cracking night out!

Me thinks that such a good turnout...is worthy of another EDF drinks....before Xmas....all those who say 'aye' raise your hand?

Yay weegee - fab idea :D

I'm still peeling chickpeas btw but consider my hand raised.

I had every intention of attending right up till 7PM when I was waylaid by an obsessive compulsive urge to do something far less interesting :(

Oh well, c'est la vie - at least I managed to catch up on some long needed sleep.

*half raises hand*

maybe, will depend very much how MrsKiwi and MiniKiwi are doing (MiniKiwi not due to appear until early-mid Jan, but who knows).

    • Walking last Friday early evening anywhere near where the bottom end of Lordship Lane meets the Goose Green roundabout, one would have been directly confronted - as I was - with this scene: Outside the East Dulwich Tavern an impenetrable phalanx of pushing yobs, shouty louts and selfish yahoos pressed outward from the open doors of this establishment, past the curtilage (the land in front of and owned by the business), all across the public right of way, to the kerbside. This was the situation all the way along, end to end. I watched as passersby, old people, children, parents with buggies, people just going about their business, were forced by these booze-sucking bellowing scumbags onto the road - where, at that hour, traffic rushed endlessly off the roundabout. We have, I realised, somehow become so used to this revolting spectacles as to believe it to be inevitable. It is not. This is why I'm dropping this post. Enough really is enough. This roiling boozy blockade represents a total failure by all the responsible authorities - the licencing authority, for example - but most of all (yet once more, again, as ever), by Southwark Council. Two very different comparisons to give you some perspective: 1. The Kings Head pub on the corner of Albermarle and Stafford Streets, London SW1. Here too, patrons like to drink and chat outside on a warm evening - why should they not. But here, on the latter side a line marks the curtilage on the pavement. Drinkers remain, respectfully, in good order, within the line, watched, quietly and carefully, by a security guard. I wager good money this arrangement is a condition of this pub's licence. 2. The Blue Brick is a cafe in the quiet backstreets of East Dulwich, on the corners of Fellbrigg and Shawbury Roads. Until a few months ago, about half its covers were tables out on the pavement. They bothered nobody. Oh! But they extended all of several centimetres too far into the footpath, so into fearless action swang Southwark Council officers - and now these tables are gone. Result, eh? "Well you see," some wiseacre said to me, "There needs to be a complaint." Not actually true, but for sure this is all too often how local authorities get pushed to do what they should be doing. Hard to think why a complaint trumps, say (and god forbid!) a child being injured on the road. In which circumstance, of course!, Southwark would swing into noisy, virtue-signalling, belated action. But in any case let this post be considered a big, very definite COMPLAINT about this prolonged abuse of our public right of way. I invite readers who agree with me to add their voices. Oh, and all those wee local ward councillors might get off their chufties, defy their party managers, and actually help sort this scandal out. Thanks for reading, Lee Scoresby
    • Hi there, I saw that Google lists the park opening time as 7:30am, but I was wondering if it might actually open earlier than that - maybe anyone who’s out running early or passing by has noticed?
