seLondon
Does anyone know what happened to the Dulwich 5km & 10km? they were a family favourite which have vanished in recent years Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/138157-dulwich-runners-10k/ Share on other sites
Mellors
The last Dulwich Runners I went to was a 5k but in the summer? There is parkrun in all the parks round here - 5k every Saturday morning, and these guys run a lot of timed 10k races etc. round here - Brockwell, Clapham, Greenwich Battersea etc. Good value and a decent medal.http://www.runthrough.co.uk/The Runners World race finder is also really useful:http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/events/foundevents.asp?v=2&evntTitle=&evntDate=a%3afut&distance=10&county=101&area=&distanceFromHome=16&evntSurface=&evntGround=&evntWheelChairAccessible= Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/138157-dulwich-runners-10k/#findComment-1092168 Share on other sites
pidgelet
Their autumn 10k has bitten the dust I fear. A couple of years ago I spoke to the lovely guy who helped organise it and he said one of the issues was it was just getting too busy and congested on the pavements used for the route through Dulwich village to have lots of runners going through at top speed. The race fell off the calendar the year when Dulwich Park was being dug up for flood work and hasn't reappeared. The Dulwich Runners midsummer 5k seemed to morph into a relay event last summer (2016). Maybe they feel the 5k market is more than being met with the numerous local parkruns? The race director at Peckham parkrun is a Dulwich Runner so he could no doubt tell you more if you come along one Saturday. chazzle
We'll be running the midsummer relays again this year: 3 x 1 mile.(You're right pidgelet - it's hard to ask people to pay for a 5k when the parkruns are free.)http://dulwichrunners.org.uk/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/138157-dulwich-runners-10k/#findComment-1095512 Share on other sites
pidgelet
The relays sound huge fun. Must put that in the diary this year. Even if a mile hard is even more painful than a 5k (which is already painful enough!!).
