To celebrate the fact that The East Dulwich Academy of Music and Performing Arts will be 3 years old in January, we are expanding our music ensembles, drama and dance classes with a special New Year offer of the first week free!

The Academy is based at Goose Green Primary School and classes are open to all local children aged 4-16, with music and drama on a Saturday morning and dance on a Wednesday after school.

We offer expert, fun and friendly instrumental and theory tuition and our tutors are highly skilled professional performers and teachers who are passionate about educating the musicians of the future. We have a range of ensemble groups, currently comprising a wind band, brass ensemble, string ensemble, percussion group and ukulele & guitar ensemble.

If acting is your thing, you can be part of a working theatre company, creating and rehearsing brand new shows to perform. We?ll combine scripted work with improvisation, exploring lots of different theatre forms and styles. Termly masterclasses and workshops from some of London?s leading theatre actors combined with dynamic weekly teaching from experienced professional educators culminate in fantastic performances for everyone involved!

Looking for dance? With a choice of Ballet, Tap and Modern dance classes taught by passionate experienced dance instructors, East Dulwich Academy is the place for you. All our students work towards RAD and ISTD gradings.

Hello

Just to say, My eldest has been at the academy drama classes since it first began.

He's thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so that his younger brother also joined. Youngest was much quieter but his confidence has come on in leaps and bounds.

Youngest also plays an instrument and is part of the band, the teachers are so supportive of the children and their varying abilities.

I would not hesitate to recommend this academy to anyone interested in Music, drama or dance.

My 8 year old has been going to the music school on Saturday mornings for 2 years now and loves it despite being generally reluctant to do any organised activity. He's come on in leaps and bounds with playing the trombone and loves performing at the showcases. The teachers are great, really enthusiastic and supportive and there's a wide range of instruments available to learn.
Hello! My 11 year old son has been going there since it started - three years ago when he was in primary school. He is now moved on to secondary school (year 7) but he decided to continue with the Saturday school. He has progressed well - working towards his grade 3 drum kit Trinity-Laban exam. He isn't much of a one for organised activities either.... unless it's football related! But he really likes his drum tutor (who is a proper professional jazz musician!) and has been enjoying the percussion ensemble, particularly now that there is a dedicated orchestral percussion ensemble teacher (in addition to his one-to-one drum teacher). The percussion ensemble gets the kids playing together and also supports the percussionists when they join the wind ensemble to play together. It's been great to see the school develop and grow and to see the different ensembles take shape.

    • Hey fellow cat owners! Was hoping that you would consider putting collars with bells on your outside cats? I’ve wee fledglings in a nest and at the moment I’m defending them against an orange and white dude (I call him Trump) and his nemesis, a lovely Tuxedo cat (I call Elon)… they are quite the double act in my back garden!!!! It would give the wee ones a bit of a better chance if a bell could announce their approach. And as a feline owner myself, I know cats will be cats, but every little helps even the odds. many thanks.
