Hello, my little man is just over 6 months and I have been trying since birth to get him to sleep in his pram, but he just won't. He maybe did once or twice in the coccoon part when he was small (but a front sleeper, he didn't like being on his back). So now he's in the bottom seat, but he still won't sleep. I've walked for miles down quiet roads (not popular with toddler in front!) but he fights it all the way. It's so frustrating as I have to rush home to put him in his cot. I feel trapped by the routine as he needs to sleep every few hours. At least 3-4 times a week I just plough on through and take my toddler out regardless and he misses his afternoon nap, but this just leads to meltdown at tea time, doesn't eat enough, overtired etc etc. I know he will drop the afternoon nap hopefully over the next few months, but any tips in the meantime to allow me out of the house for longer??? Can you get blackout material for the P&T?? Thanks!

We have exactly the same thing with my nearly 10mnth old. He will not sleep in the P&T or the travel buggy. It is massively restrictive for us as we always need to be near his cot for his afternoon nap or alternatively, brace ourselves for a difficult bedtime and disturbed night. Obviously the latter isn't pleasant for him or us!!

I've just bought a SnoozeShade and it has helped a bit. He will now sleep at his regular nap time in the buggy but only for 20 mins rather than the 2hrs I'd get in the cot.

It might be worth a shot, I'm not sure how you'd attach it to the doubles kit though.

You've probably thought of it and tried it but what always worked was 6month old in sling front or back using the sleep hood which makes it darker but I think it was the security he felt being close to me that sent him off to sleep wherever we were. We used the Ergo at around that time on front or back. Not sure if that helps.
Thanks ladies. Well I tried a 'cover' of sorts yesterday and I felt like a right prat. Ok I chose the wrong thing - a purple pashmina...its dark but thin so when the wind blew it took flight every few mins. I felt like baby Gussy was sitting in the 3rd tent of zippos circus. What an idiot. Needless to say he didn't sleep a wink. Everytime I peered in through a carefully selected 'window' he looked up at me and laughed. Why oh Why hasn't someone at P&T's designed a cover? The amount of people I see putting blankets over, either the newborn bit, or doubles kit. Its a no brainer! Anyway, I've come to the conclusion I may have to get out the Moby wrap out again.....I used this a lot in the early days. The only issue is he's a heavy boy and my back isn't the best. Especially running after todddler and picking her up off the floor every 5 mins after yet another trip, fall etc etc. Hmmmmm, hurry up and drop your naps baby!!! x
Gussy, if you're looking at the sling option you could try the patapum? it's the cheaper version of the ergo but pretty similar and better on the back than some other slings, costs about ?35 and is for 5 months and up so might suit your baby. I do sympathise as at 20 mths my little boy is now a rubbish buggy sleeper which means on days out he'll have 30 mins max, making the day quite hard work as it wears on. Would he sleep any better if he was on the top bit?

    • Good luck, don't think you would find anyone selling controllers on here 🤣 What controller you using atm?
    • Four little goslings by the pond,  with their mum and dad keeping a close watch on them yesterday! It seems very early? Apparently they were born last week, and there were five then 😭 Let's hope the rest of them escape what I presume was the heron. Sorry just realised this should be on the nature watch thread, maybe admin could move it? Apologies.
    • I'm generally in favour and supportive of events like Gala, but this issue around vehicular access to the site does seem a bit concerning. Essentially, they are going to build a fenced off road/trackway right accross the cricket and Gaelic football pitches... is that right?  Hopefully they have a way of making that work which isn't too disruptive, but I can't envisage what that might be.
