Advice on travel cots

We have been using the bassinet on our Emmaljunga pram while we have been travelling with our baby but he is now 6.5 months and very close to growing out of it!

I would love any advice on travel cots so we can keep travelling for the time being! Maybe something we can use at home sometimes so that Mattias can get used to it. He's a really curious baby so maybe good if he can't see too much! Any thoughts much appreciated!

Hi..I used a standard sized travel cot but used the Snoozeshade with my older child (also very curious and looking it the mesh side kept her awake, especially when sharing a room with us at a hotel or relative's house). I am selling mine here is the post I put in this section, if you want it let me know.

?25 Snoozeshade for travelcot: Brilliant for holidays or we even used it at home a couple of times out of desperation (light was peeping out from our blackout curtains and waking baby up). Really did keep baby asleep those precious extra hours. Bought new from John Lewis in 2013 and used fewer than 10 times, in mint condition! Looks like this one, except it doesn't have the side window function. [m.johnlewis.com]

we got a standard size travel cot (BabyStart from Argos 29.99 as it was recommended in an article in the Independent) It has grey mesh sides so keeps it quite dark. Like most travel cots, the mattress is awful so we bought a thick mattress from Asda http://direct.asda.com/george-baby-extra-thick-travel-cot-mattress-95-x-65-cm/001799919,default,pd.html for 20.00 which I would strongly recommend. Our baby slept so well in it when we were away that we haven't bothered buying a cotbed yet and she just sleeps in the travel cot at home with the thick mattress. She has slept in it from 6 months and is now 9.5 months.

    • We went to look for the cat again this evening. There was no sign of it. Can other people also look out for it too? Please contact Cats Protection, Stray Cat Club or Celia Hammond (as mentioned in the posts above) if you see it.

    • Recently I completed a pre-diabetes awareness course. Run by an outside agency at huge cost I expect, but I digress. After the course we are all expected to arrange our own blood tests.  When I requested from TJ I was initially treated with suspicion, i.e where did you get the pre-d course from! I explained it was from TJ and they refused to book on the phone, told me to use ASK MY GP link.  I explained this wasn't working for me, but no appointment was arranged. Eventually got ASK MY GP working, and requested bloods. About 8 days later I received a text link to book one. It took me every day of checking for 5 days before any appointments were available and then the earliest was a month away. Fine. Late Feb booked Got a phone call from the surgery yesterday, responding to the ASK MY GP request! Sorry? I'm confused, it's booked! (effectively after saying they won't book over the phone, this was literally what was happening) I then get a missed call from them, return the call and they say they have no idea why I was called.  Literally 5 minutes later someone calls again, my original booking can't ne honoured because it's too late in the day. Bear in mind this was FROM THEIR DROP DOWN MENU. I'm then expected to go online and book again! Beggars belief
