crystal7
My 20 month old was sick in the night - many times! She's not been sick since she was tiny so feel at a bit of a loss. Should I let her eat anything? If so what? Also she seems really reluctant to drink any water, should I offer juice, smoothie etc or is that a really bad idea? Thanks in advance! alieh
Oh no! Poor thing. I would think you should offer lots of water and very diluted juice to keep her fluids up. And bland foods like crackers or breadsticks, but she may not be interested for a while. Pickle
Sorry to hear this, not nice for her or you!I would offer food and drink throughout the day - she may not want anything, but if you offer a range of things she may eat some bits and pieces. Bland foods and apple seem to be good for upset stomachs. No harm in giving her diluted juice if it means she will take on some fluid, just try to restrict her to little sips as often as possible.Hope she feels better soon x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13655-advice-needed-sick-toddler/#findComment-368970 Share on other sites
alieh
Just had a note from my boss that his kids are all being sick too. Must be something going around - please let it miss my house as we're going on holiday tomorrow! Belle
Smoothies always work with my son or a treat like diluted apple juice when he's ill. Does she have a temperature too? crystal7
Thanks for the advice- quick as always! She's just eaten some rice cakes and drunk a watered down smoothie- phew! No temp and not been sick since 5 so hoping it will pass quickly and she can go to childminder's tomorrow (and that I don't catch it!) canadianlisa
We had this last week with my 11 month old. She was sick for 2 days and then fine for a 2 and then sick again. I think she was sick on the second round as I had thought she was better and given her a more adventurous meal when I should have stuck to the bland stuff for a few more days. All together took about 5 days for her appetite to come back and she now seems to be making up for it by eating loads. Banana, rice cakes and apple juice worked for us. Me and my partner did feel a bit yucky but never got to the vomitting stage like her. I think it's going around.
