Mother and baby groups?

Hello to all mums

Does anyone know of a M&B group in ED and around? Many I have enquired about are for older children (My daughter is four mths 3 weeks). I am desperate to meet other mums with children under one year, and to socialise my dd as well.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Dear Clairey-Lou,

I just wrote this enormous roller coaster of a reply to a similar question on the 'Wanted' section, so I am sorry if I appear to be repeating myself.

The Townley Road mother and baby group is run by health visitors with sessions promoting health - but with the intention is to introduce mothers to eachother with no pressure. I found just going into Starbucks in Sainsburys, Costa Coffee or Blue Mountain - that I always met other lovely friendly mums.

There is a mother and baby group on Monday mornings (I think) at the hall around the back of St Thomas Moore Church around 10am (I think). It can get rather crowded. A great mother and baby group is 'Moonbeams' on Half Moon Lane (Wednesday mornings?), and it is just the best fun, I found it great for babys. They do all sorts for the children, and provide nice tea and biscuits. All the mums are more than friendly, but you will need to call in to organise a taster session, and put your name down on a waiting list. St Barnabus Church has a mother and baby group (could be Tuesday and Thursday mornings) starting tenish I think. Again tea and biscuits, lots for the babies to do. Everyone is very friendly.

The baby clinic at your GP surgery is also a great way to meet new local mums, and your health visitor should be able to introduce you to mums walking distance from your home. The NCT tea groups (you can get their contact details on line) were the best social outlet though I think.

There is a great music group for babies called Whipper Snappers and Brockwell Lido to check out, and also Monkey Music classes - all are great for making friends. They also do a great story time session at the Library at Dulwich Plough, you will notice the same faces turning up at every single venue. You will build up the best group of lovely sociable parents. Dulwich is truly the best place to be a mum! I know.

Best wishes,

Hi, I'm not a mother or a baby, but I know there's a "toddler" group based in St Clement's church hall (Church is on land between Barry and Friern Roads, accessable from either). It's called a toddler group, but I think it's from birth to nursery age.
