littlemissindulgence
We walked past the newly (and long awaited!) opened E.D. pool today. Swanky reception and creche but to my HUGE disappointment there was no baby pool in sight. What a missed opportunity with all these mums and babes in E.D.! I could just not believe it. When I mentioned it at the reception the manager sort of huffed and tried to tempt me in going to one of the 3 hours (only!) reserved for jelly babies. No extra heating (adult pool average temp is 18 degrees i think - far too cold for little ones), no family changing rooms or buggy park. But enough space in the reception area to hold a ballroom dance!According to the manager it was the architect's fault, which says to me that the council clearly does not talk to residents and what they would actually like to see happen with this amazing, but now missed opportunity. I am sad.... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13464-ed-pool-no-baby-pool-what-a-missed-opportunity/ Share on other sites
candj
That is a shame, but they didn't have a childrens pool before, just a very shallow end that the babies and children did their jellybabies class. I would think there wasn't much room to add an additional swimming pool to the facilities. The Nappy Lady
It is a shame, but they did do a lot of consultation, so I do think they tried to get public opinion of what was needed. Plus plans were up inside of what was going to be done etc. for a long time before work began.I would recommend the neoprene Baby Warma suits (mine is from Konfidence for kids), website here: http://www.konfidence.co.ukWith one of those on the pool temperature will be fine. I'm about to get both my girls bigger ones, even though they are now 2 and 6 as both feel the cold in the water. We found our little one at 6-12 months old would stay in the water up to 3 or 4 times longer with a Baby Warma on.Molly Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13464-ed-pool-no-baby-pool-what-a-missed-opportunity/#findComment-364913 Share on other sites

Curmudgeon
not that a big deal really, there's a baby pool in Peckham and tbh they'll be fine for short periods in a normal pool. Fuschia
You can't get in to the baby sessions in Peckham often though unless you go in earlier to buy an advance ticket. Plus it's impossible to park.
