Free! - Every Session! Fitness & Toning on the Rye - Sat @10am 16 to 60+

Recommended Posts

I think I've been successful in negotiating with OH that I come along every other week, so can I start next week? Have a hacking cough this week so want to be able to take full breaths without expiring :))

I think he'd like to join the cycling club on a similar arrangement.

Do we bring the questionnaires with us on the day or post them beforehand?

Have a wonderful time this morning - very jealous (hack, wheeze, cough, groan!)

Good Job Ryedalema!

You can email the healthforms through to info@AHM-Go.com If you arrive at the Caf? for 9-55am them we get started for 10am. If you are late, no worries, we head around the perimeter of the park with 4 stop points. The faster ones turn back to the last one and circle back - so the fitter and faster you are, the more you do. In short, once you know the routine you can join in halfway around.

I'm just heading out to measure next Sundays ride, its to Caterham with two great longs hills at the end (my old triathlon training ground). Other than that, its pretty flat. For those that want to do the ride less the hills in Caterham, we will be circling back and they can rejoin the group.

Great workout this morning :-)

**New Training Schedule**

New training schedule starts in March, more-or-less the same routine but with more Leg & Butt toning. And then in May we will enter back into the all over toning for legs, butt, core, upper and arms. This will be on the grass in the middle of the Rye and the large tree with the benches around.

**Lorraine lost 3-stone**

Finally, I was pleased to introduce Lorraine to the group on Saturday. She has been training with us in another park and has lost 3-stone! She has worked her way up to 3Km, 5Km, 10Km & a half marathon. Lorraine is now undertaking the AHM-Fitness Leader course with us, this is completely FREE to do and get a certificate at the end.

Back from my hols. Hope to be there on Sat.

Is it still 10.00 am for the "power walking"? Christ, it must be at least 2 months since I last attended. Please be kind Mr. McCabe.

PS: are there any cycle racks near the cafe? I might cycle up.

G'day Lady Muck,

Pleased to have you back! If feels like my flock are returning from far and wide!

Yes, 10am....... well 9-55am.

Bike racks are just where we meet. And its an easy going pace..... :-)

Hi there,

Great session on Saturday, thanks so much McCabe, it was good to be outside and to meet everyone too for the first time. What a welcoming group of people you are.

Hope to see you again at one of the next Saturday sessions, and I look forward to hearing about the date for the 5k in aid of Cancer Research UK too.

Thanks so much again,

Fiz

Good Job to all!

Trainers by the doors for the morning, polished with a shine like a mirror! Hopefully no more messages from *life-support machine, Kings*, but good to know that even Kings is hooked into the EDF.

Sunny intervals and 11C for tomorrow, curious to see the impact from the evening out tonight.

9-55am, don't go giving me a heart attack with a 10-05am turn-up. If the evening gets the better of you and you are 10-mins late, head through the centre of the park past the caf? to catch us up, or if later, do what Ms Mock does and go the opp way :))

And even Toad (TLT) will be at the EDF drinks tonight!

Trainers by the door, and dooooo try and make it for 9-55am. If you are a bit later, we do a circuit of the low part of the Rye first so you can go the opp way to catch up.

And if there is rain in the air, where a waterproof jacket, no excuses :-)

See you all in the morning and some new ones are coming too! Talking about new ones, bring some change for a coffee at the end and the leader likes a tall latt? :-)

Best as always!

McCabe.

    • Whilst I agree, I have been thinking about this recently in relation to some of the other posts on here about anti social behaviour. We are all products of our upbringing - our experiences at home, school and beyond - plus whatever we have inherited genetically which might affect our behaviour (the nature/nurture thing). So in this case, if people haven't been brought up to love and appreciate trees and other wild things, plus as you say they may be deeply unhappy (or have other undiagnosed issues) it's easy to see how they could have ended up doing this. Also, it's possible they had quite low intelligence and didn't really grasp what they were doing and the effect it would have on so many other people. But that's just surmise and possibly completely wrong. From what I've read about it, they seemed to be two mates egging each other on, like two big kids. I'm not for a minute excusing what they did, and it's right they should be punished, but I really hope they might get some sort of rehabilitation in prison (it would  be appropriate to have them do some kind of community service like planting saplings, wouldn't it, or working in woodland conservation). And the same goes for phone robbers and shoplifters (rehabilitation, not planting saplings), though for SOME  shoplifters there might also be other issues at play, not excluding poverty. Sorry Jasonlondon,  I've gone off at a real tangent here, lucky it's in the lounge! Oh oops I've just noticed it isn't. Sorry admin. Oh, and then there's a whole philosophical discussion to be had about free will and determinism ..... 🤣🤣🤣
    • Thanks! I'll find out in a few weeks when I get the results! It was one of those disconcerting things where a disembodied voice keeps booming  at you to breathe in and hold it, then breathe normally. Apart from that it was OK, all completely painless. I imagine there will be quite a few people going from ED, though I presume it covers the whole Southwark area
    • Two men behind ‘senseless’ felling of Sycamore Gap tree jailed for more than four years Good to see these two jailed today for four years. There’s something deeply disturbing about people who destroy trees—any tree. Whether it’s a centuries-old landmark or a sapling in a quiet park, trees are living beings that offer beauty, shade, and life. The men who cut down the Sycamore Gap tree are a stark example of how far some people will go to lash out at something peaceful and meaningful. People who harm nature like this aren’t just destructive—they are often deeply unhappy. It takes a troubled mind to look at a tree and see something to ruin instead of something to protect.
