Hi all,

Just a mention of Southwark-freecycle as a really good alternative to dumping the tips etc. If you have items you have no further need of or have outlived thier purpose (please no gender jokes) it's worth a look. Essentially, for those who don't know, it works as a swap shop, the main proviso being that nothing is sold and everything is free. Have a look at

and no I have no connection other than I am a new member and think it's a great idea.

cheers

Freecycle is fantastic.

I have given away a pram, and collected some excellent hi-fi. It's not strictly a swap; you can give or you can request. The southwark group is new [groups in london are borough-sized so less transport is involved] but i have been a member of lambeth group for about six months.

you can join in two ways; either by receiving email allerts [good for smaller groups like southwark] or by having access to a message board [good for big groups like london] so i get both in those modes. you have to offer something free to start the membership.

Highly recommended, and you [usually ] get to meet nice recycling kind of people like you are!

    • Can you explain what your point was, then? Because it isn't clear to me. No. Perhaps you could provide a link and explain its relevance? That would be helpful
    • Anyone can deliver for Evri - my daughter having just passed her driving test tried Evri to make some money - they basically give you a route and as many parcels as they think you can cope with - you make money for each one you deliver, so you can imagine - speed is the priority. Why would they wait for you to answer the door when they can just throw it and take a photo? If you have a choice, choose a different courier service or shop elsewhere where they do.

    • A bit of a long shot but I'm on the lookout for a portable pop-up counter or podium.   The kind you often see on a high street, used by charities or utility companies to advertise their wares.   I've included a photo to give you the idea. I'm a peckham-based artist and am looking for one for a free (and non-profit) community art project.  It can be in any workable condition and can already have signage on it as we will remove and redecorate ourselves.    Thanks in advance, Linzie
