Midlake are a fantastic outfit and the Roundhouse is a fantastic venue. May I remind everyone who wants to go see Midlake to book direct and thereby avoid the rip off booking fees. To make it easy, here's a link:

The pre-sale only has circle seats left now and I wouldn't recommend circle - they won't let you STAND up there, let alone DANCE. What's the point of seeing a dance band and being made to sit on your hands? They might put some more standing tickets on later. Otherwise, hold off until the onsale (probably Friday) and then try first thing through the wonderful www.stargreen.com. I'm pretty sure the Thursday will go on sale too - at least I hope so - that's my night out.

I really need a fun night out at the Scissor Sisters tick all the fun boxes. What to wear though?

Well, to be fair to Hucknall (though I've never been a fan) he does have a fine voice though it's not really my cup of Rosie. Rod's voice isn't what it used to be either and I doubt if he could get the high notes anymore but let's face it without him and the late great Ronnie Lane is just wouldn't be the same. I think I shall be leaving well alone.

The Strokes are headlining IoW festival this weekend. Are there any Strokes fans in ED? There's a band called Venison playing at Dingwalls in Camden tomorrow night. Tickets for this "Venison" gig go on sale at 9pm this evening from the Dingwalls website. Strokes fans - get yourseles down to the "Venison" gig.

Regarding my earlier post re "Venison" tomorrow night. Is anyone actually interested in going to this? I ask because the Dingwalls site crashed badly under the pressure but I do have a link directly to a buying page that I can PM to anyone interested. I'm not going to post the link on a public thread because the tickets are already selling for big big money on ebay. Will happily PM to a Strokes fan / forumite. Personally I don't get them but that's beside the point.

Hi

The National are giving away free tickets for their Roundhouse gig as part of iTunes festival - see below:

If you live in London, you may have heard that we'll be playing the Round House as part of the iTunes Festival. They have generously given us 200 tickets to give away, so we thought we'd offer a pair to the first 100 people that write us at national@posthocmanagement.com.

Not sure if you need to be on their mailing list or not.

And it was! Shame they only played for an hour.

One of the highlights was being stood about 2 metres away from Noel Gallagher in the bar. Rock and Roll. ;-)

    • Well hello Manor men, I went to PM from 74-79. I was in O and Churchill. I can’t remember my tutor but do remember a number of bods. I’ve read a number of posts here about PM and recognise some things. Mudway was an arse. Hardly ever changed his suit.  Guys I remember are Alan Palmer, Wayne Peck ( had an older brother at the school and I think lived Peckham Road, Longleigh House), Owen McClery, Junior Gayle(Wing Chung master), David Banton , Steven Green ( I think he had green eyes), Rodney Evelyn, David Barton, Raymond Gillman (deceased), Neil Warner, Horace Marshaleck (deceased), Steven Watson (two years younger) I have a picture somewhere of the school winning a cross country event against other schools in the South London Press I think.  Teachers - Miss Pugh, Mr and Mrs Webster, Mr Thomas, New French teacher 1978/79 Miss Anspach, Mr Baugh, Mr Nelson, Mr Patel, Mr Sparks, Mr Dowse, African PE teacher, hard as nails, Mr Fenton for careers, Mr Kemel Also, my brother attended Adrian Lewis, a year younger.
    • One gentleman who kept the boards up to date with community notices i.e. local residents' association events, East Dulwich Community Centre, sadly died a few years ago. He never had the keys to the NX Rd board as this was outside his ward (now known as Dulwich Hill). The council changed the locks on the boards and we do not know who was given the keys. The gentleman's widow carries on with posting community notices but only on the odd couple of boards whose locks have been broken and she can lift the cover. If I remember correctly, it was the Lib. Dem councillors in ED that initiated the boards.
