Fuschia

I am a close friend of the people who have bought Jacks and i am a bit dissapointed to see that you have started your own thread on this. The people who have bought Jacks are incredibly passionate about food and have lived in the area for some time. They know about Jacks and will be continuing good home made food and a friendly atmosphere, welcoming everyone from the community and continuing the childrens menu! It is a little sad that you have written it off already, it certainly won't be an East Dulwich clone and hence why James sold it to Di and Alex as he approached them!! Di worked in michelin star restaurants through the nineties and Alex is a local artist. Please support your local businesses :O)

m&m fairy, I don't think Fuschia meant anything other than she was sad to see James leave (as I am) and that we all HOPE what we love about Jack's (child friendly, good food, good local location for us) will stay the same. Best of luck to your friends on their new business.

When will it be open and will it be closed during school half term holidays?

Hi Candj

We are yet to set an opening date but as soon as we know we will put it on the blog and update the forum (crossing fingers for end of September)

Good news is we will be opening both half term and full term holidays with the exception of a few days over xmas but everyone will be full up from all the mince pies and turkey anyway!! >:D<

Alex

So is it closed now? I went along on Thursday with twins in tow and it was shut sob sob, cue a disastrous afternoon that ended up with my virtually in tears at a bus stop by GG with both twins screaming in the rain and I was sure I was going to faint, had to be rescued by Mr F (I'm 7m pregnant) (Not that that this sad story is Jacks fault, of course, but finding my safe haven unexpectedly shut did throw me rather)

The sign said it would be open tomorrow but I don't want to risk it again if that's not true...

I do, but when I read on the blog "a vision to create an independent artisan coffee house specialising in good homemade fayre, locally sourced produce, with Square Mile Coffee, all washed down with a chilled out atmosphere." my heart did sink rather, child friendly wasn't mentioned and I am just fearful of price hikes (no more lunch for me and my twins for under a tenner) and another ED clone...

If it is intended to keep the good value child menu and the toys etc etc, then that's good to know. I feel a little reassured now.

    • Hi, Self explanatory anyone help or point me in  right direction please.   Thanks
    • Cheques are still the safest way to send money to others if you want to make a 'thing' of it. At Christmas or birthdays a card with a cheque is the most effective present to distant god children or extended family, for instance when you don't know what they have or need - made out to the parent if you don't think they have an account yet. Of course you can use electronic transfer, often, to parents if you set it up, but that doesn't quite have the impact of a cheque in the post. So a cheque still has a use, I believe, even when you have very much reduced your cheque writing for other purposes.
    • I believe "Dulwich" is deemed where Dulwich library is situated so left at Peckham rye and straight up Barry Road
    • The solution for the cost of duvet washing is for each person to have their own single duvet like in Scandinavia.  Then you can wash the duvet in your own washing machine. Get a heated drying rack if you don’t have a tumble dryer.
