The Nappy Lady
Am I imagining it or did someone post about a good book for toilet phobias? My poor friend has a 2 year old who is struggling & any helpful book suggestions would be good. She's 'holding back' for up to 24 hours & getting very distraught to the extent that she does nothing but pace up & down crying til she finally goes. ryedalema
Hi Molly - I can't help with the book but I'd be really interested in the book if you find it too - I have a friend whose three year old is holding hers in for 3-4 days at a time, then it sort of 'slips out' anywhere and everywhere. Poor thing says that it hurts her and she is a bit 'backed up'. She's getting softening medicine from the doctors but it's not helping with the behavioural issues.Sorry - not trying to hijack your thread, just interested in the outcomes.xxx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13162-poo-phobia-book/#findComment-359083 Share on other sites

dollydaydream
Hi, My child had a problem with going to the toilet after a reaction to antibiotics, he then got a hang-up about going, so along side taking lactulose I would encourage him to sit on the toilet with a book and get him to relax, and then try to push, we did this before a bath at bedtime, he might only go a little but lots of praise and encouragement, it did take time but the key is to keep the routine going. Hope this is some help good luck Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13162-poo-phobia-book/#findComment-359110 Share on other sites

Pam50
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Constipation-Withholding-Your-Child-Soiling/dp/1843104911/ref=pd_sim_b_5Found this link on Amazon. There's another funny picture book'Potty -Poo-Poo-Wee Wee', that we used to demystify the process...and I can recommend the 'Everybody Poos' as well. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Potty-Poo-Poo-Wee-Wee-Colin-McNaughton/dp/076362781X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1284031137&sr=1-1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13162-poo-phobia-book/#findComment-359229 Share on other sites
Dorothy
I think there is also a book called Poo Goes To Pooland, which I have seen recommended on a well-known parenting forum :)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13162-poo-phobia-book/#findComment-359272 Share on other sites
