Amazon Fire (tablet for kids)

Does anyone has an Amazon Fire tablet? My iPad screen is smashed and i want to buy a kids tablet to give to them during a long haul flight.Rather than my iPad and risk to be smashed again.

I would like to hear feedback or other recommendation. I am not big fan of tablet for kids but I am not 100% off.

We're also thinking of a tablet for our 10 year old - weighing up Amazon over just a standard android tablet. So any guidance on relative merit and practicality welcome.

All my kids they have them. Staring from the older version to newer one. They are good. Last much more then iPad and don't cost a fortune so when they get broken you don't feel so bad.

We have one. I really like it - you can prevent them accessing the internet and watching cr@p on YouTube. But they have worked out how to access all the Apps rather than the 'educational ' ones I set up! Also pretty near indestructible.
