I have just spend 1/2 an hour on phone, trying to get virgin to arrange to send someone out to move the cable so it runs along the side of my garden. After being put through to five people, it seems as I'm not the customer, my neighbour is, that I can't complain by email or phone and I have to write! Has anyone else had this issue with them putting a big green plastic tubing across their garden and how did you get it moved?. Any advice would be good.

Well if I had done a questionnaire , with replies on here and from other neighbours and friends, cutting through it accidentally, wins by miles!!

I have spoke to my neighbour weeks ago Sue. I find that if it isn't inflicting irritation or being an ugly eyesore to them, it isn't an issue that really concerns them. I am always upfront with people, however when you ask other people to sort it out and nothing happens, then I have to deal with it as I'm sure if it was the other way around they would do the same, however I would not have had to be asked, I try to treat neighbours as I like to be treated.

I won't be cutting through it, however tempting it may be. I have wrote to virgin. The front garden is for my sole use, however the land belongs to the council as we are leaseholders. As its classed like utilities, virgin do have the right to run their cables through garden, that I'm not disputing, it's just that its in green tubing accross the garden, rather than run along side of fence. Anyhow, maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy and maybe most people wouldnt care. If I get it resolved by writing, will update so anyone else with same issue knows what to do. If all else fails, be naughty.

I doubt they have any statutory wayleave. See for example https://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/contactus/wayleaves/wayleaves.do and (you're not the only one) some similar cases via http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/garden-dug-up-and-cable-installed-on-my-property-without-permission. It'll get resolved. Even if you had been the customer their action doesn't sound reasonable.

    • Nikolay & team were fantastic from start to finish - really responsive, easy communication, explained what they would do and delivered on it, and crucially delivered high-quality work. We bought a house with very tired floorboards that had been covered up by carpet for a very (very) long time, with cracked floorboards, and big gaps between some of them - just generally dirty and grim-looking. Within 7 working days for three rooms, a corridor, and an entire staircase, the floor was sanded, some floorboards replaced, gaps filled in, and finished to a great colour and feel. We hesitated a long time between restoring the floor or just covering it up again with a new floor, but really glad we went down this route and found a great team to take care of it. It was also a very reasonable price for the amount of work done - would have been a nightmare to do ourselves without the right kit etc at the start, so glad we spent this money. I would highly recommend NN Floor Sanding based on my experience with them.
