citizenED
Does anyone know of a place locally I can dump a box load tatty old paperbacks - they are too rough to give to a charity shop, too knackered to sell on e-bay and I want to shift them sharpish as they've been hanging around for far too long. Then on to the rest of my life!citizen Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1297-book-recycling/ Share on other sites

Ant
Aren't there some big recycling bins in the Sainsbos car park? I reckon there'd be somewhere there to dump 'em. mikese22
Brendan Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> the blue waste paper bag.i don't think they can be recycled because of the glue in the spinethere's an organisation called www.bookcrossing.com - basically you tag your books with a unique ID then leave them somewhere like a cafe or park bench, when someone picks them up they can log on to tinternet and you can see how far round the world your book has gone!!alternatively you could donate to an old folks home, or hospital Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1297-book-recycling/#findComment-34965 Share on other sites
Nero
Save em up for Bonfire Night, or give them to someone who's got a real fire or burner. Nero Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1297-book-recycling/#findComment-34972 Share on other sites
TillieTrotter
I'll take them off of you. Feel passionate about books, should never go to the graveyard!! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1297-book-recycling/#findComment-34977 Share on other sites
citizenED
thanks for info, peeps - Ant, I ran up to Sainsbos prior to posting and their recycling centre doesn't have a place for books - neither does the one at Belair Park. Tillie, I've got three boxes of them - but they aint novels, they're mainly textbooks and popular science/psychology stuff (so not sure how appreciated they would be in an old folks home). I agree that books shouldn't go to the graveyard. If you want a rummage (so to speak) PM me. citizenps Ok so I didn't literaly run up to Sainsbos with three boxes of books - I drove. smith
It's in Vale Street SE27... good luck, it's a bit convoluted, but if you head in the general direction of Croxted, Clive, Tritton, Martell Road you'll eventually find it! monica
pop into Healthmatters,ed there are free bookmarks with the greenmetropolis website details, who will take your books, restore them and sell them on.They donate to the woodland trust Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1297-book-recycling/#findComment-35280 Share on other sites
Bellenden Belle
Mmmm, don't think that's actually how greenmetropolis works actually. It's a selling site - you list your books on their site; they sell them; you get money, they get money - and 5p goes to the Woodland Trust. If going down this route, you will usually get a better price for your books on Amazon where they are more likely to sell and you can make your own charitable donation. www.greenmetropolis.com Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1297-book-recycling/#findComment-35291 Share on other sites
