After school mothers help (or nanny) wanted in SE4

Hi there, I live in SE4 (Brockley) with a 6 yo and an 11yo girl (secondary). I have had au-pairs for wraparound care for the past 3-4 years (before that I used a nanny share and also a childminder) but am now looking into a live out arrangement. I can be flexible as to when this starts depending on finding the right person and what their availability is like but I think it would be starting in the new year.

Role would be daily 3.15 pick up - 7/7.30pm (when one of us gets home) and mornings perhaps once a week. Very occasionally I would need you to work later (with advance notice) when I have a work event and my husband is also away. There would be some requirements to take the kids to and from after-school clubs in that time, maybe twice a week. I usually do the cooking except once a week when there is a late club and I would ask you to feed the kids early (usually we eat together later). Although of course if you are someone good at cooking we could look at this becoming a bigger part of the role. I need some help with light housework too - the things the au pair does now ie, hanging out and folding washing and making sure the kitchen is tidy, nothing heavy, I have a cleaner who comes once a week. Also to supervise the kids homework on the days they have time, basically to be good company for them.

I would fix a minimum payment based on 25 hours a week and then pay extra for any additional hours you do on top of that. In school holidays I would have some full days.

So I think it would suit someone with flexibility in their schedule who could go with the flow a bit on extra hours. I have had a lot of different childcare arrangements over the years and consider myself a pretty fair employer. But we are at a different stage now, so I am looking for something different. If anyone thinks that this sounds like them then please could they PM me. Thanks for reading.

    • Hi there - we've just bought a Victorian terraced, and the carpet is in a dire state on the whole top floor. Underneath appears to be wood flooring (underflooring?), but in a pretty bad state and the floorboards are quite far apart, etc. Does anyone have a solid recommendation for a floor specialist who could come round and tell us whether it's best to restore the old floor, or give up and replace it. Ideally, they would obviously be able to do either at competitive rates. Thanks! * Picture 1 is the floor, and picture 2 is with a smallpatch sanded to see what it wears down to.
    • Thames Water is at the High Court today trying to get a £3bn loan extension sorted. If it isn't then they will go bust and go into administration (actually it's more complex than that). If I was a contractor supplier to them I might well not be doing work I might not be paid for until that's sorted.  Doesn't help us ordinary Joe's who just live in their bailiewick of course. But who cares about us?
    • There's quite a solid one just been dumped on NX rd, near L Lane
    • Last week the started painting new double yellow lines along the EDG near the junction with DV. They could not finish the job as a car was parked there. It was there Monday thro' Friday. The contractors came back today with a hoist truck and lifted the car onto the back of the truck and I fully expected to see the truck drive off and take the car to the pound.  .But no, the truck parked up further along and then the yellow lines were duly painted. With that job done the truck driver off-loaded the car exactly where it was previously. Isn't that gratifying Very gratifying. It's been there now for 3 hours and hasn't had a ticket.
