Cher will do well. Not my type of music at all (I'm faaaaaaaar too old!), but I do find her very watchable and like her attitude. Can't help but think she's going to age badly if that's how she looks at 16...

Aidan scares me with his mad eyes. Matt Cardle is likeable but the older blokes never do any good as the voting public tend to go for the young girls/boys. Does anyone else notice that one of the young boys in the boy band has a real "stage school" air about him? The others do their best to look broody and sexy, then there's the blonde one who seems to always be doing jazz hands and cheesy grins - hilarious. He'll do well in the West End!

I enjoy the panto meets car crash element as quids put it. It is finelyncrafted entertainment.

The karaoke element is a bit shit though isn't it, hence why there are more 'quirky' marmite acts to love to hate.

Watch out Wagner he's behind you.

The end result acts are the musical equivalent of Maccy Ds though aren't they. They may be successful but they are also dull and generic. Simon Cowell is a very rich man because he recognises populist formulas that work, not because he understands music.

I say hats off to the man personally but I'll never buy a record he produces (though I'll happily watch his shows, guilty pleasures though they are).

Matt Cardle's version of Hit Me Baby One More Time:

His version, while borrowing more from the Travis cover than from Brittney's original, was superior to either. Travis's version, while good, had a dirge-like quality that Matt managed to avoid completely. Not only was it paced at a better tempo, the phrasing was superb and it conveyed a greater sense of thwarted passion - imo..

That's just it, I liked him and aiden, but this is completely the wrong format for them.

They should be fronting a band, maybe writing their own songs.

XFactor is squeezing their quality out of them, crushing their character. Aiden's intensity and introversion is surely his strenghth, that whole 'look at the camera engage with the audience' thing just makes him look a bit creepy and dysfunctional.

They're both fast becoming generic toss.

Mind you the Orange Unsigned Act is no better.

A)I'm failing to see the point of Alex James full stop and

B )Tommy Reilly was such an original and creative phenomenon, I ended up buying his singles and sadly overproduced generic power ballads somehow emerged, Tommy's talent crushed....aaaaaaagh!!

After the (ahem) 'triumph' of Deodorant Salesperson Alexandra Burke last series, there's been a concerted effort by the producers (by the inclusion of Aiden, Matt, Cher, Katie etc) to make this series the series of the, umm, like, unique act, yeah?

Unfortunately when shoehorned into the format and requirements of the show, they all come-out looking like caaants.

Even the good ones.
