London City Airport evacuated after 'chemical' incident

ondon City Airport has been evacuated after a reports of a chemical incident.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) said about 500 people were forced to leave the east London airport after some passengers felt unwell.

hope it's just a coincidence that there were security issues on the tube yesterday.

Seems it may have been year gas, from a canister that may have been abandoned by a customer rather than a terrorist attempt. Wouldn't like to be in said customer's shoes once the police identify them.

We had to evacuate our office in LB a couple of days ago. Police cordoned off a large area due to a 'suspicious car'.

Given the high likelihood of a terrorist attack in London sooner or later, I think it's good people are being vigilant.

Better a few possibly false alarms than the alternative.

The fact that people were forced to remain on the tarmac for 3 hours would indicate to me that no proper

evacuation plan was in place to deal with such a situation.

On top of the North Greenwich Station incident on Thursday (coinciding with the Nickleback gig at the O2) this was a bit of a worry- tear gas though...?
