Another of my printers has just bitten the dust( - this one was an old Epson stylus photo 900)so I am looking for a new one for printing photos, graphics and artwork as well as general stuff. I've had Epson and Brother ones before which have all been ok - any other recommendations? I am looking for something that does not cost a fortune in inks. I've often used the 'compatible inks' previously but plan to use the real thing this time while it is within warranty.

Hi Minitoots..

I have an Epson R1800 that I have not used for some time.. It prints up tp A3+ and produces high quality prints.

It is currently gathering dust and taking up too much space and I need to get rid of.

You are welcome to have it for FREE.

If you don't take up Foxy's kind offer, do not on any account get a Canon.

The following link has 127 pages of people who now have unusable Canon printers due to what appears to be a firmware error which Canon refuses to either fully acknowledge or fix.

They lost a class action in the States, but people did not get properly compensated. The problem is not restricted to just one or a few models.

Both my son-in-law and myself had to bin our Canon printers due to this fault, and neither of them was very old. It was very annoying as up till then I had been very pleased with it.

I've got an Epson now which on the whole is OK, though since getting a new laptop with Windows 10 I can't get it to scan to the laptop despite downloading new drivers, though I'm working on a fix :(

Apparently it's a well known glitch :(

    • Yesterday was a school day and it was 8⁰! I'm not sure what kind of truanting youth in arctic survival gear you expected to be out there! How many people were having a drink in the pub, just out of interest? Many people enjoying a meal in the restaurant? Any overnight guests in the upstairs rooms? A lot of bar staff on duty yesterday by any chance?
    • Skateboarding is so misunderstood...it is more technical than ballet and the use of drink is not very compatible with a  practise that requires rare dedication and degrees of skill and coordination impossible with alcohol and for most people... impossible at any time. The mutual support and encouragement in that culture is something to be valued.   My Godson's friend had just taken his life which really put things into perspective for me. being trapped alone in a bedroom instead is not great for mental health...   think of the access previous generations had to no mans land.     London has always been a place where wealthy corporate areas remain next to areas of interesting creativity.  The skateboarders beneath south bank centre have a constant audience of tourists;  places like that keep London from becoming stagnant and cold.
    • Another endorsement for Greg. I called him first thing after water started dripping through my kitchen light fitting. He came straightaway, immediately understood the issue and fixed it. Incredibly efficient, neat and tidy, and charged a competitive rate. Will definitely be calling him again and would highly recommend.
    • Because . ...? What would your unromanticised film version of the skate park be? Are you saying that what it portrays is wrong in some way?
