holloway
there's a laundry room in my building shared by all who live there. when i do a wash i am considerate to take out my clothes exactly when the wash cycle has finished thereby not delaying others. it proper fecks me off however when others are not as considerate and leave their clothes well past the finish time. i often feel like removing the clothes but never do. should i though..?i know this is pedanticadvice please Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/126380-laundry-room-etiquette/ Share on other sites
KidKruger
if you can't proceed and have to wait then yes why not, it's a shared RESPONSIBILITY.Just do it nicely and don't get shirty and it's a win-win, isn't it ? You're saving them some work and should be commended while you can get your kit washed. peckham_ryu
Add one new red sock. Put it in for another cycle. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/126380-laundry-room-etiquette/#findComment-1057097 Share on other sites
rendelharris
Lived in a large block until last year, it was understood that one left one's bag/basket atop the machine, if someone else needed the machine before the user returned they just put the finished load in the bag. Seemed to work fine, I assumed that was what everyone did. Robert Poste's Child
Or buy a couple of cheap plastic laundry baskets so everyone can decant the finished wash and take over. numbers
hell yeah, just move the clothes out of the machine if its stopping you from getting your laundry done.I'd draw the line at folding it though. JohnL
If I took out clothes I know I'd shake and fold just because I have to - so maybe I wouldn't :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/126380-laundry-room-etiquette/#findComment-1058841 Share on other sites
Jeremy
As others have said, I'd just remove the stuff. If no basket/bag is available, pile it on top of the machine.Out of interest, does anybody have their own washing machine in their flat? Or is it against the building rules? I didn't even realise shared laundry rooms were a thing in this country, I thought it just happened on US Sitcoms.
