There is wonderful paving outside of Dulwich Park on Court Lane. Why cant LL have the same upgrade. Why cant LL have the same upgrade.Because you accused him of being more interested in looking after Court Lane than Lordship:> I always think that if JB actually lived near LL> things might be different - he's happier looking> after Court Lane than Lordship Lane so I was pointing out that in my experience, where he's gone out of his way to try to sort an issue not even in his ward, he is not as self-interested or parochial as you seem to imply. wolso
I also think the pavement along Lordship Lane is awful. I've just moved from Peckham to ED and noticed that the pavements are really bad. I tripped the other day on Crawthaw Road and am worried that I could easily trip outside the strip of shops near St Christopher's Hospice. Siduhe
Part of the issue (it seems to me) is the pavements on the forecourts of local shops which the shop is responsible for, not the bit along the road which the council is responsible for. Any wholesale upgrade of the pavement would/should involve both bits which would be complex to organise. I definitely agree it needs looking at, but I wonder if this is part of why it hasn't happened before now. Pugwash
The Council can order shops to keep their forecourts in good order - but obviously need to have ideas from local residents/visitors of the problem. Remember some years ago that following a number of complaints, Southwark council ordered a row of shop keepers to repair their forecourts or council would do it for them and charge. The shop keepers/owners failed to follow this through and Southwark did as threaten and charged for the work. Since then, those shop keepers have been more careful. Mick Mac
It certainly needs a coordinated effort. Neither council nor shopkeepers are likely to initiate any grand process themselves.
