sportbilly
I don't know if anyone has seen that Piaf has finally closed for business. Hooray! I am amazed it has limped on for this long given it can't have been covering its costs for many years. Does any one know what is going to take its place? DulwichFox
Must admit. I only went there once. A few years back.Only had a Coffee and a piece of cake. V expensive ?6.00ish.Even then staff were disinterested. But expected a tip.Glad it's gone. sportbilly
I hope they go for an independent restaurant like Chapter 2 (Blackheath). If someone decided to actually set up an independent well they would clean up v the chains (P Express and C Rouge). I would love to do it but feel that I would then be a candidate for Ramsey's Kitchen nightmares! Reg Smeeton
Good riddance to a restaurant that topped the bad-service awards for a decade. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12538-le-piaf-in-dulwich-village/#findComment-347439 Share on other sites
LadyTaTa
Sportbilly, I feel the same way - I'd love to open a funky independent restaurant in Dulwich, but sadly lack the stomach and talent. I turned purple and nearly fell into a dead faint just trying to cook spaghetti vongole at lunch! DulwichFox
I had a shop in ED back in 1993.I looked at a small shop on the main parade of shops in D. Village. The Rates back then were ?13,000 P.A. I hate to think what the rates would be now say for the Piaf site. :-$ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12538-le-piaf-in-dulwich-village/#findComment-347468 Share on other sites
tallulah71
it's going to be an italian restaurant. Let's hope it's not another 'Bella Pasta' like the one before. Jah Lush
Thank god for that, it was bloody awful and service was appalling but I'm afraid it is more than likely it will be replaced by something equally bland and boring and well....crap Unfortunately only the big chains can afford the rents in the Village. The Village could really do with a decent restaurant but sadly it's unlikely to happen. womanofdulwich
Future expansion Waitrose aims to extend its store presence whilst improving price perceptions and developing an integrated multi-channel offer. Waitrose opened its first smaller format convenience store in Fitzroy Street, Cambridge in summer 2010 as part of its plans to increase its presence in the UK's convenience sector. The new format stores will offer shops with sales areas ranging from 2,000-4,000 sqft. There are plans to open a total of nine convenience shops by the end of the year, including four of the newest smaller convenience shops.Bring it on I say.......
