Abbyb
Hi All,I am hoping to do a loft conversion on a top floor flat in East Dulwich. It's a complicated project and I've been advised to consult with an architect and get plans drawn up and submit a planning application ASAP. As Southwark council are notoriously hard to please, I think I would really benefit from a local architect with knowledge and experience of dealing with them. If anyone has any recommendations they would be gratefully received. I would also be very interested in recommendations (or warnings) about loft conversion builders. Many thanks, Abby Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/125139-looking-for-an-architect-with-experience-of-complex-loft-conversions/ Share on other sites
MadBoom
Hi AbbyKeith at Keith Whitworth Architects is a great local architect. He has done many loft conversions, and a project for our house as well. He's at http://www.kwa.uk.com ([email protected])and based in Herne Hill. Thanks, Madeleine Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/125139-looking-for-an-architect-with-experience-of-complex-loft-conversions/#findComment-1055253 Share on other sites
klove
We've not had a great experience with Keith Whitworth and his recommended builder. We're still having to rectify major issues almost a year later (things beyound snagging). Others might have had a more positive experience but I sorely regreat using him and his team. Jemmarc
I'd recommend Cryssanthi at o25 architects - she's a friend of mine and local mum but she has lots of independent recommendations on here and SE23 Mums - search 'Chryssanthi' on here to see contact details and recommendations. MadBoom
I do have to say that we had a completely different experience and were extremely happy with Keith's work. Raised by Bears
Give local architect Mick at UV Architects a call. They have lots of experience and completed projects in loft and basement conversions, and live in the area.0207 407 9343[email protected] Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/125139-looking-for-an-architect-with-experience-of-complex-loft-conversions/#findComment-1090726 Share on other sites
Keith.Whitworth
Re K Love messageI am deeply shocked by this post. The job was completed on time and signed off well over year ago. The builder did a wonderfull job . I have not heard from the client since, so i cannot react to what her concerns might be.Keith WhitworthKeith Whitworth Architects Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/125139-looking-for-an-architect-with-experience-of-complex-loft-conversions/#findComment-1095782 Share on other sites
Brother Sparks
Hi All ,I wouldn't recommend Keith Whitworth either, I found him to be very un-professional. My only consolation was the architectural plans he drew for me fell apart during some basic scrutiny and no building work was started. klove
Keith's statement that the job was completed on time is an outright lie, as he well knows. We ended up having to move in with my mum after our short term rental was finished, as they over ran by over a month. This was when I was 9 months pregnant. Keith.Whitworth
The contract was extended yes, but the works were still all completed.
