Looking for an architect with experience of complex loft conversions

Hi All,

I am hoping to do a loft conversion on a top floor flat in East Dulwich. It's a complicated project and I've been advised to consult with an architect and get plans drawn up and submit a planning application ASAP.

As Southwark council are notoriously hard to please, I think I would really benefit from a local architect with knowledge and experience of dealing with them. If anyone has any recommendations they would be gratefully received. I would also be very interested in recommendations (or warnings) about loft conversion builders.

Many thanks,

Abby

Hi Abby

Keith at Keith Whitworth Architects is a great local architect. He has done many loft conversions, and a project for our house as well. He's at http://www.kwa.uk.com ([email protected])and based in Herne Hill.

Thanks, Madeleine

We've not had a great experience with Keith Whitworth and his recommended builder. We're still having to rectify major issues almost a year later (things beyound snagging). Others might have had a more positive experience but I sorely regreat using him and his team.
I'd recommend Cryssanthi at o25 architects - she's a friend of mine and local mum but she has lots of independent recommendations on here and SE23 Mums - search 'Chryssanthi' on here to see contact details and recommendations.

Re K Love message

I am deeply shocked by this post.

The job was completed on time and signed off well over year ago. The builder did a wonderfull job .

I have not heard from the client since, so i cannot react to what her concerns might be.

Hi All ,

I wouldn't recommend Keith Whitworth either, I found him to be very un-professional. My only consolation was the architectural plans he drew for me fell apart during some basic scrutiny and no building work was started.

Keith's statement that the job was completed on time is an outright lie, as he well knows. We ended up having to move in with my mum after our short term rental was finished, as they over ran by over a month. This was when I was 9 months pregnant.

    • Apart from being yet another eyesore in our lovely park the track is going to be 5 metres wide, that’s wider than my living room! By the time this is installed it will be too late for people to object. This must be rethought, even more of our park is being given over to GALA. The council didn’t factor in HGV access when they planned the flood alleviation works and now they expect park goers to suffer further. Complaints might help, worth a try but needs to be before the consultation ends on Feb 10th
    • It is absolutely real, I walked past the site, complete with car and trashed wall, at about 2pm this afternoon.
    • Oh ok, I'm even more confused now then. Have you seen the discussion on the dangerous driving thread?
    • Sue - I promise you that was no fake photo, not sure that I'm even capable to that.  I took the picture about 12:15 today.
