They are fine with dioralyte but when we offer them food they get sick again. Helen GV
try bananas, rice, apples (grated) and dry toast? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12411-wanted-advice-after-tummy-bug/#findComment-345051 Share on other sites
esme
stewed apples are great for a poorly tummy - had that when I was little and still good now when I get an upset stomach. Apple juice good too, in fact anything appley but the actual raw fruit. Fi from West Dulwich
also porridge, oat cakes, rice cakes, corn cakes - you get the idea! variations on the dry toast theme. also grapes - went down a storm with O after rotovirus, and a good source of glucose for energy as well as water to rehydrate, plus the odd vitamin. hope they feel better soon Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12411-wanted-advice-after-tummy-bug/#findComment-345483 Share on other sites
jollyrogers
Avoid milk and other dairy products - these can really feed any bugs that remain in the gut. jac428
Thanks for all the advice! Grapes did not go down well but the porridge was good. I never would have thought to try apples. They keep recovering and then a few days later have a lapse. How long do stomach virus tend to last? darlin'
I would have said exactly the same as Helen GV. It's called the BRAT diet (helps as an aide memoir!) and has always worked for me (though usually try banana last of the 4.) sorry they are still getting it- seems very unlucky that it's lasting so long :-( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12411-wanted-advice-after-tummy-bug/#findComment-345676 Share on other sites
