Hello all.

When I say recently, we've actually been here since Febrary, but what with the moving and the baby and the new jobs, its been a bit hectic.

Anyway, we are a couple between the ages of 25 and 30 (inclusive...), both now working full time outside the home, and we have a daughter who's just turned 7 months old. Baby girl is looked after in our home by my cousin L ( :) )during the day. We live in the champion hill/dog kennel hill area.

We would like to meet other parents/families with similar age children. As we weren't here for pre/post natal classes and it apparently takes about ten years to get into nursery in ED, I'm not really sure how this happens! Does anyone want to go for coffee or something one weekend?

I think that L would also like to take little one to some activites during the week now she's getting old enough to appreciate it, so recommendations for playgroups or teagroups or whatever other baby/toddler activities are out there would be welcome.

Finally, anyone have a reliable and sensible teenage child that they would like to lend us so we can get to the cinema every now and again?

Looking forward to meeting (some of) you.

Hannah

Hi Hannah,

I have PM'ed you. In terms of classes / groups, there are loads in ED. We really enjoy Bumps and Babes on a Monday 10am-12pm at the Goose Green centre, Monkey Music (although that's just finished for the summer), and the free groups at the libraries (Rhyme Time on a Wednesday morning and Story Time on a Thursday at Dulwich library). Friends of mine also really recommend Baby Sensory.

Hope you're feeling more settled in your new home - we really love bringing up our baby here.

    • No hesitation in recommending Pavel and his excellent company. So glad we were able to have a slot in the schedule. Our move has been stressful in many ways so it was a huge relief to have the contents of our home dealt with by kind, responsive professionals.
    • I have someone from Which Tech phoning on Monday afternoon. I couldn't get an earlier appointment. I am hoping that now there is a visible display, they will be able to get me online and then  remotely control the laptop and identify what went wrong and whether it is an ongoing fault or, if not, whether it is likely to recur. If they can't, or if they identify a hardware fault,  I will have to grit my teeth and let John Lewis's third party "repair" company take it away and deal with it 😭 I'm very grateful for your advice, but when I saw "Windows will restart automatically" my immediate reaction was to think "but suppose it doesn't" and "suppose the screen goes black again" which I know is very negative but I'd rather someone else was there when I did it, albeit on the end of the phone! Meanwhile, every cloud etc, as I have installed Word on my phone, which I didn't know was possible, and I have been editing and printing documents from there.  I haven't investigated whether I can do the same with Excel, but I will see what happens on Monday.
    • Just to the right of where the goslings were there’s a tree on the lake side of the fence where I like to watch the mother and baby rats. It was there today  there was a  dog. I was surprised by the nimble way this large dog jumped back over the fence.
    • If you mean the area immediately adjacent to the water, I have never seen either a dog or a human in there. Surely it would be extremely difficult for someone - or their dog - to get over the fence (I thought they were iron railings. Are we talking about different parts of the pond/lake?)
