Louise Doughty is the author of eight novels, most recently Black Water. Moving between Europe during the cold war, California and the Civil Rights struggle, and Indonesia during the massacres of 1965 and the decades of military dictatorship that follow, Black Water is an epic novel that explores some of the darkest events of recent world history through the story of one troubled man. As well as an author Louise is a critic and cultural commentator for UK and international newspapers and broadcasts regularly for the BBC.

Francis Spufford is the author of Golden Hill, his first novel. Golden Hill is set in 18th-Century New York, a generation before the American Revolution. Rich in language and historical perception, yet compulsively readable, it has a plot that twists in every chapter, and a puzzle at its heart that won?t let go till the last paragraph of the last page. Francis is also the author of five highly-praised books of non-fiction and he teaches writing at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Richard T Kelly?s third novel The Knives ? a follow-up to his acclaimed debut Crusaders ? is a gripping political thriller set at the heart of government, concerning a fictional Home Secretary who finds himself besieged by multiple crises, both political and personal. Richard is also a screenwriter and author of bestselling non-fiction books, and he blogs at http://www.richardkelly.co.uk.

Harry Parker joined the British Army when he Harry Parker 1 b&w © Gemma Daywas 23 and served in Iraq in 2007 and Afghanistan in 2009. His debut novel is Anatomy of a Soldier, which is a moving, enlightening and fiercely dramatic novel about one man?s journey of survival and the experiences of those around him in war. The story is told from the perspective of inanimate objects that surround Parker?s characters ? an original take with utterly compelling results.

    • That’s another big hike on the Sainsbury’s mini rolls! I spoke to one of the managers on the day of the anchovies price rise but all he could say was that his store doesn’t set the prices. Very vague and not helpful. i started this thread about price rises in  Sainsbury’s and it’s somehow being blamed on Brexit etc!
    • And the Sainsbury’s own brand chocolate mini rolls have gone from £1.15 to £1.40 overnight, so 22%-ish. I prefer them them to the Cadbury original because they have a lot more chocolate on them, presumably because they’re made in a less advanced factory. I would think that getting the Rizla thin coating of chocolate that Cadbury’s accountants demand onto a piece of sponge is quite a sophisticated operation. Discuss.
    • Another recommendation for Leon. He was able to come out to our electrical elergency within 24 hours of me contacting him. His communication was great and whilst he could not solve our problem, he was able to perform tests to identify this and did so quickly and efficiently. He charging  is very fair and his manner very pleasant. Both of these in contrast to some experiences I have had elsewhere.    happy to put my name to recommending Leon. His number is  07707 925039.
    • Steven is an amazing personal trainer! He's incredibly motivating and knowledgeable, and he's helped me push myself further than I thought I could. In just 3 weeks, I've noticed a significant improvement in my strength and overall fitness. He's not just a trainer, he's an excellent motivator and a great person to work with. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to achieve their fitness goals.
