P.O.U.S.theWonderCat
I've not read it, but if you like thrillers "His Bloody Project" was nominated for a Man Booker prize this year. http://themanbookerprize.com/books/his-bloody-project-by-graeme-macrae-burnetIf you get lost for inspiration, it can be fun to read your way throught the Man longlist. jaywalker
Eric Ambler's pre WWII spy thrillers are exemplary and quite disturbing. Written in the 1930s. borderpaul
The Missing by CL Taylor about a 15 year old boy going missing is a book you won't put down once you start reading it. Jenny1
If you're keen on detective fiction you've probably already read them, but I think Raymond Chandler is still one of the best. lavender27
I read a few chapters of a book then don't go back to it again for a long time if at all as I get distracted with other stuff. Can anyone give me any sound advice on a book that I wouldn't put down until it's read. I would really love to read a book all the way through. Another thing is I sometimes forget the plot and have to read it again and then I loose interest. Can you recommend a good book for me that is easy to read that would ease me back into reading again. Thank you x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/122458-anyone-read-any-good-fiction-recently/#findComment-1045861 Share on other sites
jacks09
I would genuinely recommend the Harry Potter books! Obviously written for kids so easy to follow but enough i there to keep an adult page turning. Elphinstone's Army
lavender, perhaps short stories would suit you better?H.E. Bates, or Roald Dahl a book of narrative poems, to get the rhythm going, or as jacks suggested, Harry Potter.Do you go in the library, they are always helpful. If you read the lastpage first then you take the pressure off yourself ha haI can start a book and not engage with it at all, I try again weekslater and it clicks.See, it isn't just you, do not give up. ????
Other than the occasional classic and Le Carre & Greene I've been struggling with non-fiction for years now - too heavy or too light!
