happy82
I am looking into potential business opportunities that I can fit round looking after my son. Am thinking about setting up my own local online business renting out toys. I Will be looking at purchasing large items like jumperoos and smaller items like trunkis for holidays etc. The idea will be to deliver locally and give babies / young children the opportunity to refresh their toy collection on a regular basis. Also allowing parents the opportunity to try out a toy before making a commitmment to purchase it, as well as space saving and environmental benefits. All toys will of course be well cleaned after use. Would love some feedback from you all to hear if this is a service you may consider using or reasons why not, any positive / negative comments welcome as it is still just an initial idea at this stage.thanksHappy82 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12235-toy-hire/ Share on other sites
marscapone
sounds good - I've always liked the sound of a toy library but we don't have a car so i like your idea of delivering larger itemsif cheap enough, it could also be good for things like jigsaw puzzles Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12235-toy-hire/#findComment-341337 Share on other sites
BellendenBear
This service already exists via the one o'clock clubs. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12235-toy-hire/#findComment-341342 Share on other sites
Fuschia
This would be a good idea of the price was comparable to buying and selling stuff second hand.. though I'm not sure it could be. I bought a second hand jumperoo for ?25 and sold it after we'd used it, for much the same. Bumpkin
I remember thinking about this as a good idea, but there is a really good toy library at one of the nurseries in West Dulwich which is ?15 per year for all loans. We used it a few times. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12235-toy-hire/#findComment-341588 Share on other sites
new mother
It is a good idea for more expensive items which people might only need for a few weeks. I would stress the hygiene aspects in your marketing - ie each toy is immersed in blah blah solution after return. etc etc. THat is the one area that puts me off. Pecanpie
Good idea, really want a toy kitchen for about a month, (by which time they would probably have had enough!) Sanne Panne
Think it would be great for short term (e.g. on a monthly basis) rental of expensive bulky items that kids get tired of quickly (kitchens etc) as well as overpriced "responsible" wooden toys (Steiner/Waldorf style) - good idea to stress the clean and almost new idea.
