andyandyandy
Has anyone any experience of using a moling service to install a new water supply pipe?Apparently we have good water pressure but a low flow rate which means we can put more than a couple of taps on at the same time without one reducing to a trickle (if anything). Apparently the low flow rate is due to small diameter pipes leading from the water main/meter to the house and a installing a larger diameter pipe will resolve this issue.Any advice greatly appreciatedCheersAndy Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/122055-moling-to-install-new-water-supply-pipe/ Share on other sites
DirtyBox
Using a mole only makes sense if you have some nice Victorian tiles you want to preserve otherwise it's probably cheaper to do it the old fashioned way with a trench shovel and half a day of a labourer (i think I paid around ?600 for the mole). When I had mine done the damage was inside the house where they had to take up part of the floor to get the pipe going in the right direction, was worth it though, the pressure in the loft is only slightly less than the first floor bathroom. Penguin68
Thames Water had to replace pipework for me (and my neighbour) earlier this year (in Underhill - the old lead pipes had fractured). It was about a 20-25ft run and they used a mole - took about 30 minutes for each house - no surface disruption (other than digging 'receiving' pits at both ends). It seemed a very simple process and worked perfectly both times . The pipework actually into the house had already been replaced after an earlier incident (for me, anyway). It's a far quicker process than dig and bury. ED_moots
We used Gary at [email protected] he was quick and efficient. He has a mole but ended up digging a short trench as we don't have fancy tiles. Cost about 550.
