metham777
Hi there,Im returning to work soon and am thinking of dropping my toddlers to nursery by bike (nursery have agreed to keep the bike safe. The roads to nursery are fairly flat. Does anybody have any ideas about the safest way to travel with 2 children on the bike. Trailer or one of those bikes where the children sit in front? Does anybody have one of these bikes that they want to sell?Kind Regards,Monique Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12102-adult-bike-and-child-trailer/ Share on other sites
womanofdulwich
Def not 2 at the front as it will make the steering dangerous. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12102-adult-bike-and-child-trailer/#findComment-338203 Share on other sites
taper
Trailer's are safer with two. You can pick them up on the interweb for about $150 (or at Edwardes bikes on Camberwell Road). See here - http://www.is-us.co.uk/. More expensive versions (eg burley) available for about ?350, but I wouldn't pay that Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12102-adult-bike-and-child-trailer/#findComment-338344 Share on other sites
mumof3girlies
I have a ridgeback trailer which cost in the region of ???130-40 I bought it from Evans, I did try their steel construction trailer but it was quite heavy with 2 kids in so I opted for their aluminium trailer which was worth it and light as a feather, I could still take them out in it when they were 6 and 4 years old. The heaviness may not be such a concern if you are only going on flat roads for short journeys. Generally I felt really happy taking the trailer out I certainly noticed when cars came up behind me they gave me a wide berth and with a flag on the back felt car drivers saw me and the trailer. On busier roads I would go on the pavement if it looked nice and wide, but you generally get to know the best routes and where you feel safest. The trailers that go on the back of the bike- you can detach very easily and lock up for the day to save you having to take it out all day. Good luck on your search - it is a lovely way to get about! p.s have a look on ebay - they come up pretty often.
