Exactly right! I listened to it on the radio and it sounded like fantastic game. End to end stuff. Cashley Hole should have been sent off and Lampard should have been booked as well. The referee Mike Riley bottled it (again). I only wish I'd been there or at least seen it in the pub. I was so glad when they took Joe Cole off as he sounded like he was having a blinder scoring two and making another.

Ronaldo is continuing to do the business with Man Ushited and has passed the late great George Best's 40 year old goal scoring record for a season. Some of you may not like them much but they continue to play great football and you've got to hand it to the lad who already is looking like the Player of the Year again.

Lots of important games coming up and the Premiership is looking like it is going right to the wire. The Easter Bank Holiday weekend's results will prove crucial for the top four.

England Squad:

James (Portsmouth), Carson (Aston Villa), Kirkland (Wigan); Bridge (Chelsea), A Cole (Chelsea), Johnson (Portsmouth), Terry (Chelsea), Brown (Man Utd), Lescott (Everton), Ferdinand (Man Utd), Wheater (Middlesbrough), Woodgate (Tottenham), Upson (West Ham); Barry (Aston Villa), Young (Aston Villa), Bentley (Blackburn), J Cole (Chelsea), Lampard (Chelsea), Wright-Phillips (Chelsea), Beckham (Los Angeles Galaxy), Gerrard (Liverpool), Hargreaves (Man Utd), Downing (Middlesbrough), Jenas (Tottenham); Walcott (Arsenal), Agbonlahor (Aston Villa), Crouch (Liverpool), Rooney (Man Utd), Owen (Newcastle), Defoe (Portsmouth).

Walcott is sort of a new face, he's never really played for the senior squad properly, and is a far better player now. I am actually pleased to see that Owen is still called up, he doesn't deserve to lose his place just because Newcastle are rubbish... Wonder where if'll be next season...
Sounds like Darren Bent is starting to show his class, BBC say he came of the bench and turned te whole game scoring 1 and setting up the second. I hope his fortunes change, I rate him. Will be interesting to see if Spurs keep him as their number 3 striker, or if he'll end up somewhere else... Like at West Ham with Curbishly.

When we beat the arch enemy? Yes it is!

I'm wondering if "Ronaldoooooooo" is heard enough nowadays to go in TV catchphrase thread.

On the Darren Bent subject .... I've been sent a list of the top 50 highest paid players in the world ... and he's in it. He's on ?95k a bloody week ... DARREN BENT ..... can this be true?

He was a fool to lose it, especially as it seems to be the current trendy thing for the press and pundits to go on about. However, Torres never should have bloody been booked for asking why everyone was being allowed to foul him, and our boy Mascha wanted to know what the hell was going on... He never went mental til after he'd been booked, and frankly I don't really blame him. Despite all that, I thought we might grab an equaliser, but were always going to be left open whilst we went looking for it.
Big gob ran half the width of the pitch to have (another) go at the ref. Fair play I say. Let it continue. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more yellow cards for this sort of behaviour. Rooney and others at United should get the same treatment at times too. I also didn't think that Torres was fouled any more than say Ronaldo....

What a load of complete and utter bollocks!!! Did anyone actually watch the game or just the biased highlights shown on MOTD??

Yes Mascher should have kept his mouth shut, however Livepool have been used as a scapegoat for the discraceful behaviour of a certain Chelsea player during last week's game. Javier was given a yellow card for a similar tackle that 5 mins later Anderson was given a telling off for. Torres was repetedly hacked down and when he approached the ref for some protection (which the likes of Fergie etc have requested for their "star players") he was shown a yellow card. No wonder Mascherano was incensed. In the circumstances, I think most of us would have acted in the same manner - I know I was livid.

If the rule now is that you will be booked for dissent for simply trying to talk to the ref, there will be a lot of teams down to 9 or 10 men week in week out.

Steve Bennet was a joke and was trying to prove a point given the public slating he'd received following Chelsea's game last week.

Aaaanyway, have to take hats off to Chelsea, and not to have a poke at Arsenal, but credit where it's due, everyone has been talking about Man U and Arsenal in a 2 horse race, and Chelsea have quietly gone about their business and have now emerged as Man U's biggest title rivals, especially given Arsenal's seamaiming fixtures! Don't know who I'd rather see win it now, I'm bloody glad Everton dropped points this weekend though!

Boo

Hoo.

Sean, he was wittering on for the whole game (that he was on for). Surely you noticed all those teeth flashing away? Liverpool were beaten before he got sent off accept the fact that another season has gone by without a league win.

    • Wish they get rid of the tree in Barry Rd adjacent to the Plough, The roots are all over the place, Council re tarmacked them some time ago but makes the pavement uneven. You cannot get a mobility scooter over them as tarmac slopes. Witness a lady with wheelchair trying to get over , in the end her carer had to help over with 2 crutches then push the empty chair over. Also young children using scooters/bikes have fallen off at this point. Hubby spoke to tarmac workers when the work was done and they felt the area was very dangerous to pedestrians and the council should have authorised the removal of both tree and roots. Some prams cannot get over as well. Prior to Christmas, mother/carer with 2 children in double buggy had to walk in road with on coming traffic. We do need trees   I have 2 in my garden - one is well over 50 years old and we have it pollard every few years to prevent it damaging neighbours property.
