>>I'd like to pay a small tribute to the Sheffield legend Derek Dooley. I can remember reading about him when I was a kid >>and his playing career was already long over. <<

I heard about this whilst away in Miami on holiday and would like to endorse every word. Dooley's football career was over long before I knew there even was such a sport. But once around 1960 my family was sat in Coles' Restaurant in the centre of Sheffield (the orginal store opposite the cathedral, to those familair with the city) when my father nudged my mother and, indicating a smiling and clearly well=regarded man who had just entered, said "There's Derek Dooley". My mother looked on in awe - neither she nor my father ever knew the first thing about football. I piped up "who is he?!" - and was given the story. I was puzzled as this guy seemed to have both legs intact and I suppose I expected a Long John Silver-type wooden leg. And it was years before I could work out how playing football could lead to a leg amputation...

Dooley of course played for and then managed the "wrong" Sheffield Club - the one that sacked him on Christmas Eve one year. I am bound to say though that, although he was eventually more involved with the right Sheffield club, he really belonged to the whole city for over half a century, or even to South Yorkshire, given the respectful silent tribute before the FA Cup game at Oakwell today and the inspired way Barnsley saw off some London team or other...

I have been up to Anfield four times this season, witnessed 14 goals, a Torres hat-trick and watched only one get passed Reina.:)) Beginning to think I bring them good luck. ;-)

What a great day, Utd out the FA Cup, Chelsea out too and was witness to 3 fantastic goals at Anfield. Here's to the toffees dropping 3 points this arvo. Come on you Black Cats :)-D

FA TO INVESTIGATE FERGUSON COMMENTS FOLLOWING DEFEAT TO PORTSMOUTH - sour grapes from fergusmoan, no surprise there then. Everything about him is repellant. I was shocked that Man Ure didn't get a pen yesterday because they usually do. Even though they should have had one yesterday, we all know that decisions sometimes go for you sometimes they don't, what is that mans problem, apart from the fact that he is a tw*t.

I've never yet heard a non-West Ham fan who has any real understanding about the whole affair; they just spout West Ham fielded an illegible player WRONG....this case was without precedent and is a bit more complex than hearsay rubbish Blades and most other teams fans realise.

Infact, I think if West Ham had gone down they'd have sued to get their ?5 million fine back.

By the way, just to clarify Sheffield United went down 'cos they didn't get enough points over 38 games and that is afacto-fucking-mundo which they won't have...

Steady on ratty, I didn't realise Pompey fans were anti Arsenal. We've always got on with Pompey fans especially after your fans applauded Henry off the pitch a few seasons ago when we beat you in the FA cup. I only expect such reactions from Spurs, Man Ure, or Lokomotiv Fulham fans.

We are not really and I remember the Henry game so, so well - an unbelievable performance. I just cannot stand Wenger personally who is nearly (only nearly though) as much of a whinge as SAF! However, I really do admire Arsenal's side who are pure pure class at the moment! Anyway, Pompey are really Arsenal on Sea so I guess I cannot dislike them too much!

Anyway, there is now only one Prem club left in the cup. Could it really be Pompey's year? TBH we have played fairly poorly in all the games so far and PNE should have beaten us so we will not be taking anything for granted against any championship side!!!

    • I can't remember exactly when it was, but some years back a shop opened up virtually opposite Health Matters which was selling more or less the same kind of thing (what were they thinking?!) It didn't last long, I assume because most if not all people continued to use Health Matters. Hopefully Health Matters and H&B are sufficiently different that Health Matters won't be impacted too much. Also, I doubt that assistants in H&B will have the same kind of expert knowledge about what they are selling as the people in Health Matters do - and for some  kinds of products (eg vitamins, supplements, essential oils) it's important to be able to be sure that what you are being told is reliable.
    • I noticed that today, cryptic wording on the shuttering, but guessed that was who it is.  Seems sad that it will likely impact Health Matters
    • I will go to both Health Matters and H&B! I already buy a lot online from H&B in their sales,  - when they  have excellent bargains  for things like 3 for 2  large bags of nuts (which I freeze), and   so it's one high street store I'm pleased to see on Lordship Lane (apart from their weird array of sports stuff and "snacks" with sugar in). I can't say the same for Oliver Bonas, but then I doubt I am their target market 😂
