European trophies that are all now defunct!!! As is usual with Spuds fans, you are still trying to relive old glories. Let's talk the here and now, and the recent past. Spurs haven't won the premiership since it's inception, nor has that sad outfit from merseyside. FACT!! Your team has spent shed loads of money, and have been telling anybody that can be bothered to listen, how well you will do with such an array of talent, and you haven't. FACT. At least with me, I don't need my pals to come and help me out in the playground, because that nasty man from Arsenal is saying horrid things about my team.
You forgot Cup winners cup, just shows you how well read you are in footballing matters. Oh I forgot, youre a Spuds fan so footballing matters are alien to you. By the way, do you know why Santini left Spuds. When he was told he was going to be managing THFC, he thought it stood for the Thierry Henry Fan Club, boy was he gutted when he found out what he had really let himself in for.
Can't wait for that game. Should be a good one, but I think we will go to Anfield and take the points. But to be honest I only see Arsenal, Manure and CSKA Fulham in the title race this year. Rafa seems more concerned with the Champs League..., well he did until they played Marseille.

Atila, (there's two Ls in Atilla) you may or may not have noticed that there are quite a few other Arsenal fans on this thread who have not felt the need to resort to the kind of silly and pathetic little playground taunts that you've managed to lower yourself to with the minimum of ease and yet you say you've supported the Arse since '68. How come you show such signs of immaturity? Or are you as I suspect just another blockhead?

We try to respect each other on here without feeling to the need to insult each other. Either behave yourself or f**k off.

Also, European Cup Winners Cup as you've correctly pointed out yourself is now defunct. So that's two defunct Cups you've won and f**k all else. We've won two UEFA Cups as well as the the old European Cup Winners Cup. Just thought I'd point that out seeing as your such a stickler for facts.

>>Build on recent good work and signs of promise or choke like a kiwi?<<

I think the former but, this being England, am preparing myself for the latter. Seems Owen will play, but I hope there's not going to be a terrible reckoning with MacLaren's brave support for Robinson!

Oh and "choke like a kiwi" is new to me...did you coin it yourself? :))

Who, me?

I didn't jump to Jah Lush's defence because you said anything bad about spurs, I spoke up because I think you're being agressive... There are loads of footy forums all over the place for people to mouth off and say how great their team is, and how sh!t everyone else is. This is a local forum, and judging by your name and the posts you written so far, you seem to have signed up just for this football thread. It's not meant to be like that, we predict scores, and have some friendly banter.

No one has said Arsenal are not a good team, we all admit they are good, theyn play nice footbal, and the table doesn't lie, so stop with the victim thing.

It's funny, with the exception of Man U, no one hates teams because of the players or manager, it's the agressive and/or smug fans that will do it.

Good work Simon & Piers for talking about football.

I think England will have a difficult game on Saturday because they'll think they're world beaters again after the last 2 games. Expect them to win it, but not by a huge margin. The Russia game should be good, and expect England to play better as they tend to do in bigger games.

Hope he sticks with Barry, Lampard does not deserve to walk back in to the side!!!

I agree, there seems to be a unprepossessing steeliness about this newish side and I rather hope it continues, but as you say...England...

I've been advocating dropping the stars if they're not performing since Sven's star-struck stupidity (ooh, nice alliteration, you might want to try more of that and less bile Atila[sic]).

MacLaren's hand may have been forced, but I hope he's learnt the obvious lessons.

Ooh, and it was mine, couldn't resist after saturday's topsy-turvy results!!

On that note, lets be having them....

Cyprus v Wales, D, 17:15

England v Estonia, E, 15:00

Greece v Bosnia-Herzegovina, C, 19:30 (Sorry am quarter Greek, so have included them too)

Rep of Ireland v Germany, D, 19:45

Scotland v Ukraine, B, 15:00

Pub on Saturday anyone?

Actually there aren't two LL's in my name, and it is my name, so I should know how to spell it. And please don't tell me to Fuck off, there's a good chap. I sense you are uptight because Spuds are at the footend of the table. You should be to used to things going badly by know, as it has been for sometime It's a shame that you've haven't got a sense of humour, because as a spurs fan you really do need one. You spuds fans are so sensitive, wonder why that is?

Cyprus 0 v 2 Wales

England 2 v 0 Estonia

Greece 1 v 2 Bosnia-Herzegovina

Rep of Ireland 1 v 1 Germany

Scotland 1 v 0 Ukraine

In all fairness Attila is normally spelt with two Ts rather than 2 Ls

Is this you then atila? Interesting photographic preoccupations you have there.

I have a well tuned sense of humour Atila with one L. Just quit the aggressive and childish stance and maybe we can talk about football like proper grown ups. Anyway, six games unbeaten since the Arsenal game, admittedly four draws and only two wins but we are slowly improving.

As for England on Saturday Lampard's got to earn his place back in the side. Gareth Barry has played really well and looks a perfect foil for Gerrard in midfield and should keep his place. Should be a pushover against Estonia but I'm a bit more worried about the Russia game especially with that artificial pitch. Surely that's some sort of unfair advantage they have there.

For your information "Mockney Piers" Atila is name, and yes Jah Lush, that is how it is spelt. I don't believe in hiding behind a made up name. As far as I'm concerned, there is no malice in what I say about Spuds, just winding them up, which judging by Jah Lush's reaction, is dead simple. I'm making hay whilst the sun shines which is what ALL true fans do. But in Spuds case the sun stop shining nearly 50 years ago as far as the title is concerned. And just for the record, I think the way they have treated their best manager for god knows how long, is disgraceful. I hope he gets another club, has some success and shows the Spuds board how stupid they have been. Only CSKA Fulham could treat a manager in a more disreputable way. Oh I forgot,.......... they did. Does this contain less bile "Mockney"?

>

Fair enough and apologies re the [sic].

We do pull legs here, but our wind ups do go for a more measured tone, that's just a fyi.

For the record my name is Piers and I am a mockney, so no more inaccurate than your own moniker is it "the gooner".

Soooo, Estonia and Russia, wha'dja reckon (see, I went all mockney again ;-))

Estonia should (fingers crossed) be a formality, but I have grave misgivings about the trip to Russia. I hope I'm wrong, but I've a gut feeling we'll screw up over there especially on that artificial pitch, which I think should not be permitted. After all the hype the press have given the team in the recent past, I can just see them laying into them if things go badly in Russia.

We do love a good build em up and knock em down approach.

Yeah agreed, a couple of good performances, but Russia will be very different; pretty hostile atmosphere too, nasty feeling the black players will be in for some abuse from the home crowd.

Still, as long as the team has enough hammers, current or ex, we should be fine ;-P

I was watching that Inside Sport on BBC1 on Monday and they had a thing about the artificial pitch. To be honest it shouldn't make too much difference. Hardly any of the Russia team play on it regularly either, and it's a lot better than the hard old stuff of the 70s and 80s... No excuses, they have to go and do a job... Oh, and my real name is Keith ;-)

That's more like it Atila, see you can do it. Less of the spud bashing and we'll get on fine. I don't mind a bit of banter between our supporters but I thought you came on a bit too strong as a first poster.

You're right about our board, bunch of idiots. Jol is indeed the best manager we've had in a very long time and hopefully we'll stick with him, better even than you're own George Graham but then I think it was just a plant. Mind you he did win us the Worthless Cup so he wasn't all bad.

What I don't understand is, the board give Jol all that money to spend then they go and talk to someone else about his job, and to make matters worse, they get found out!!! What were they thinking?? It must impact on the team.

Exactly! And it did impact on performances at first but I think the team as a whole are right behind Martin Jol, you could see that in the goal celebration at the end of the four-all draw against Aston Villa and the performance we put on against Liverpool last weekend. Having said that I think spending 16 million quid on Darren Bent has so far been a waste of money. He's a long way off justifying his price tag.

Anyway Thierry Who? You certainly haven't been missing him have you?

    • We tried both vegan and then the usual.. neither was nice. I've had nice soups here before so will just stick to that. Probably just a bad choice on the day... As I said the waiting staff are always lovely.
    • Hi everyone who has subscribed to Eats Dulwich. The response has been overwhelming. However, I've realised I made a rookie error when I set up the new page. I didn't have the paid subscriber button turned on! While the reviews are free to read, a few paid subscribers will help me to make the page better - write more, travel a bit beyond SE22 and also set up exclusive offers and meal deals. Subscriptions start at only £5 a month and you can cancel at any time. If you can upgrade to paid that would be great. But no obligation of course. Any support is really appreciated.
    • I would happily take the task on but sadly the council will keep the responsibility, which I'm fairly sure means within months of them actually putting any useful information up on the boards it will not be kept up to date and will eventually get vandalised and fall out of use. Wonder when it will actually have anything at all posted as it was mended last year after around 2 years of me (and James Barber supporting) to ask Charlie Smith and other councillors to have it repaired. I'm not disputing that BUT this would also be a very useful place for small businesses to advertise and the last time it was actually in use it had a mix of councillors' contact details (I'm guessing would be in line with you supporting community info being posted there) but also info about give and take sales and also a few small business ads, a whole range really... and now I believe the plan is only to have community group and not for profit group info. That's my argument really, that we are a mixed area and anything we can do to support local small businesses would also be a good idea. Anyway I sadly don't have high hopes for this (Northcross Rd) board to be maintained properly or regularly by the local councillors - Monica at Health Matters did her best when it was last in use but even then it had very old info on it aside from local councillors details. Hope I'm proven wrong.
    • New refurb is excellent in many ways, nice layout except I don't like facing the free weight section when using the weight machines. All the equipment and spacing is well thought out. I think they should do more for senior citizens in terms of weekday classes and swim sessions but aside from that it's an excellent leisure centre and I'm really grateful it's on our doorstep.
