Sorry babes. I was high on lighter fluid and deoderants at the time. Of course I meant Spurs could not afford Johnson, with him being english and all and therefore counting as a homegrown for Europe.

I reckon GJ would be upwards of ?12m. Judas himself was quoted as saying that he was only going for loans was he not? (Not that you can beleive anything that comes out of his lying saggy mouth of course! ;) Would debate whether you would want Johnson to play over Corluka though; who I think is class.

Reckon it's just tabloid crap tho.

Nope, now there's two! Talking of tabloid crap, I heard a rumour that Redknapp was going to lose O'Hara and Lennon back to Anfield, in a cash + players deal for Keano. Methinks it's more than just Ratty who's been at the lighter fluid!

I'm burying my head and not reading any of it! January will be interesting tho

That would be bonkers Kells wouldn't it. Lennon's doing the business again and O'Hara gets better with every game. Cracking goal against the Hammers. We could do with another forward but I don't think Robbie Keane will be coming back anytime soon. I don't think Harry's got much to spend anyway and will probably wheel and deal in the loan market. Frankly, I don't think we need any of Portsmouth's players apart from Jermaine Defoe.

Ratty.

If memory serves me well, didn't Portsmouth buy Defoe in January of last year? That's 12 months. So we can have him.

Twelve million quid for Johnson! You're having a laugh. Besides once Alan Hutton is back from injury we wouldn't need him anyway.

Interesting? It would be fucking hilarious. He lost the dressing room for a start and I really don't think there are too many of our players who are good enough to play for Real Madrid.

O'Hara's goal was magic. Can't see any of them going to Real Madrid...half of the problem seemed to be that Ramos, for whatever reason, couldn't get the best out of them here, so why would they go? And yes, I don't think that many of them would be good enough for Real Madrid. Not yet, but I'll enjoy it if they prove me wrong!

I've even started believing in Gomes. And I never thought that would happen. That was probably the highlight of the hammers game for me (well OK, there were two)

Not correct I'm afraid my love and this is where the confusion is. To push the deal through Jermain came on loan (we were waiting on the Benjani to City deal) we then got dispensation from the FA to finalise the deal later in Feb. He was not allowed to play against Spurs because he was technically on loan. His permanent move being made as soon as June transfer window opened. 12 months will be June 2009.

Johnson is only worth that much cos he is English and therefore counts as homegrown for UEFA quota. Liekwise Defoe, and Crouch. Homegrown players values are gonna inflate even higher as Uefa rules tighten.

Don't think he totally lost the dressing room, Jenas just the other day (before the Madrid news) was saying what a great coach he was, but that a couple of things just didn't work out.

Gossip columns are suggesting he may come in for Zokora...

RE: Defoe, if memory serves, they missed the deadline last January, so he actually went on loan, and was only signed properly in the summer, so the 12 months won't be up... Could be wrong though.

Why would Spurs want him back anyway? He's a decent player, but he was very much 3rd choice behind Keane & Berba, so why ggo back?

I don't think we should have got rid of Defoe in the first place. But there you go, Spurs are the only team who can start the season with Benty on his own, and wonder where all the goals have gone. I think Commolli had more of an impact on Ramos' team than it should have, just because it works on the continent.... But Harry wouldn't put up with that, even if Comolli was still at the Lane.

Changing the Subject...

A thread on another forum I go on (Pompey Fans Online) has made me chortle so I thought I would plagiarize it on here.

What football chants over the year have made you guffaw? My own personal favourite, is, as a young man at the time of the Cleveland Child Abuse scandals, going up to old Ayrsome Park and singing "Get your Kids out for the Dads" at the boro faithful (all 9 of them).

Anyone else????

I see Alex Ferguson has come out with more hostile nonsense, this time saying it's a terrible black mark against the FA for banning Evra for 4 matches after he'd punched an overweight groundsman in the head back in May at Stamford Bridge. Let us not forget that to try and get themselves off the hook United's propaganda machine at first suggested the groundsman had racially abused Evra, that in itself is below the belt and should have been dealt with by the FA.

I can't think of a bigger hypocrite in this country than Alex Ferguson, he'd make a politician blush.

    • Surprised at how many people take the 'oooh it's great it got approved, something is better than nothing' view. This is exactly Southwark council's approach, pandering to greedy developers for the absolute bare minimum of social and affordable housing. It's exactly why, under their leadership, only a fraction of social and affordable housing has been built in the borough - weirdly Mccash chose to highlight their own failures in his 'near unprecedented' (yet unbiased 😆) submission. All the objectors i have met support redevelopment, to benefit those in need of homes and the community - not change it forever. The council could and should be bolder, demand twice the social and affordable housing in these schemes, and not concede to 8 storeys of unneeded student bedsits. If it is a question of viability, publically disclose the business plan to prove how impossible it might be to turn a profit. Once the thing is built these sites can never be used for social or affordable housing. The council blows every opportunity, every time. Its pathetic. Developers admitted the scale was, in this instance, not required for viability. The student movements data seemed completely made up. The claim that 'students are taking up private rentals' was backed up with no data. There is empty student housing on denmark hill, needs to be fixed up but it's there already built. The council allows developers years to build cosy relationships with planners such that the final decision is a formality - substantiated objections are dismissed with wooly words and BS. Key meetings and consultations are scheduled deliberately to garner minimal engagement or objection. Local councillors, who we fund, ignore their constituents concerns. Those councillors that dare waiver in the predetermination are slapped down. Not very democratic. They've removed management and accountability by having no nomination agreement with any of the 'many london universities needing accommodation' - these direct lets MAKE MORE MONEY. A privately run firm will supposedly ensure everyone that those living there is actually a student and adheres to any conduct guidelines. There's no separation to residents - especially to ones on their own development. Could go on... We'll see how many of the 53 social/affordable units that we're all so happy to have approved actually get built.
    • I am looking for 1 unit which is working for £50 cash. Thank you
