I'm not entire sure that's fair Anna. We had people like Owen Hargreaves and Wayne Rooney down as long term targets. We waited for Hargreaves and his club to be ready (through his injury too). I'm also not sure it's not what Liverpool get up to either but it's just not as well publicised.

I too struggle to see how anyone can call Real Madrid the best club in the world. I'd even put Liverpool before them as they've had more success in recent years.

Players do not go from Liverpool to Manchester or the other way. You would never have signed Owen.:))

Every club does it, I just found it hilarious that they are getting so riled by it. The problem is they know he wants to leave. 40 goals in a season from a winger is a hell of a lot and without that, they may struggle.

That said, ?70 odd million, should buy a couple of half decent players. ?70 million ffs!!! Absolutely ridiculous, if his comments were true and he said that about my club I'd want him to leave. He's clearly not a team player.

I didn't mean sweet as in "good" I meant as in how nice he wants to be with his girlfriend. Unfortunately any player can leave but as supporters we unfortunately have no control over that

I think we'll be ok without him. As you say we can get a couple more players in for that money. As for getting riled, this is Fergie you're talking about, he loves a bit of rile...it's what gets him out of bed in the morning. :)-D

Not sure about the team player thing. Liverpool seem to have forgiven Gerrard after his head was turned by Chelsea.

Me too! I've been down a few times in the last few seasons to see them and Fisher. Great fun and Guiness with a view of the pitch. Don't forget the bloke who selld CD's as well.

Spurs look like they could have made a very good signing with this Dos Santos from Barca! Came through the youth ranks, and broke in to the first team. Only 19 and a Mexican international, plays on the wing or up front. Apparently well rated, but behind Messi in the pecking order... Could be a very good player for the Spurs...

I really think if Ronaldo does go to Real for ?75 million - or however absurd his price will turn out to be - then the pressure on him to perform will be so huge - and the Real crowd is notoriously impatient and fickle - that his failure to meet impossible expectations may wreck his career. Or he may get a long term injury in his 2nd or 3rd game with the same result.

Man Utd on the other hand will spend probably less than half of this money on Santa Cruz of Blackburn - aybe Bentley too - nd never look back... Real will still do less well than the PL clubs in the Champions League.

I sa this on the the BBC Sports website and had a little chuckle

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has ruled out a move to Spurs - and hinted that Inter Milan remain an option. "Tottenham, and I hope the English fans will forgive me, are a club in mid-table and I need more," said Eto'o. (Fox Sports, 1220)
