SimonM
Arsenal must be kicking themsleves for losing after scoring such a brilliant second goal: massive loss of concentration or what? Well done Liverpool anyway - I hope they now reach the final at the very least! :)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1210-football-focus/page/103/#findComment-93460 Share on other sites
nutty
after the excitement on this thread after the last game I came here to check out Lady Gooners complaints about the ref last night - but nothing?Top game! Keef
Obviously I'm very happy, and had I been a neutral I would have really enjoyed that match!I was woried when Walcott came on, and bloody hell what a run and what a goal, I wish he'd scored it himself, because it would have been deserved!Torres' goal was class, and if he's anonymous for the rest of a game, then does that, then so be it!Now, the penalty (someone had to bring it up). Arsene Wenger is saying it was never a penalty, now for me, it was very very similar to the penalty shout from last week, so either neither should have been, or they both should have been. I agree Arsenal can be annoyed at not being awarded the penalty in the first leg, but you can't in the next breath claim that a very similar incident shouldn't have been a penalty.Either way, I was glad Babel scored another, so it didn't all hinge on that, as I won't have that peformance taken away from the pool! At the start of the game it was all Arsenal, and I was imagining losing 3-0 or something, but after Hypia equallised, I thought we raised our game.In the second half, Arsenal just seemed to have ran out of steam (and that was the comment of my Gooner friend who was round at mine watching it), until the substitutions.Anyway, a great game, very unlucky for the Arsenal, it always could have gone either way. I just wish the managers (and I'm not just talking about Wenger, but he's one of the worst) could be more gracious afterwards, instead of finding some cr@p to complain about all the time. It's disrespectful to the other team who have also played their hearts out.Chelsea next... Would rather have the second leg at Anfield, but we'll just have to make do. Ladygooner
Still licking my wounds..........At least I don't have to face the prospect of Chelsea in the next round and then Man U after!Good luck Liverpool! mockney piers
Good shout regards the penalty Keef. But honestly, what the hell did Toure think he was doing?! If it wasn't one (and i'd say it was a bit iffy yet highly giveable) then he was darn well asking for one.As I said last time best thing for me was Walcott as a prospect and last night reinforced that.El Pais drew other plus points, they're getting very excited about Torres, and El Pais compares him to the 'elegant Ian Rush' today. SeanMacGabhann
I agree with Keef pretty much - apart from calling the penalty the same as last week, it was much softer than that. I'm not disputing the penalty.. I just wouldn't describe it as similar to Kuyt's embraceWalcott's run deserved better reward but there it is - by all accounts a cracking game but as a non-neutral I couldn't enjoy it that much and the end result... gutted Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1210-football-focus/page/103/#findComment-93488 Share on other sites
Jah Lush
What Keef said and well done Ladygooner, gracious in defeat. Arsenal can consider themselves a little unlucky but I thought overall Liverpool deserved to win and I hope they can go on and lift the trophy again. Keef
Chelsea? We beat them for fun! ;-) Man U, now that's different, and I won't be confident should we both get that far, for me they just have more danger men than Arsenal. But that said, a final is a final, and we've beaten them in finals before now... Chelsea will be interesting, the stupid fans still sing for Jose, but if Grant beat the pool, he will have done something Jose never managed in the champs league... Surely that would win them over for him! Not that I want that to happen of course. citizenED
Still licking my wounds too, but was a terrific game and at least we can hold our heads up after the way we played. Taking the game to Liverpool at Anfield and getting the lead - and then fighting back with that brilliant second. Shame we lost it as we did. But on balance cannot complain. Agree with Keef re Wenger moaning instead of giving credit where it is due. He should save his anger for his defenders - particularly Toure:'( Good luck to Keef and Annasfield - hope Liverpool go on to win now. If Arsenal were to do a job, and Chelsea beat Wigan on Monday (which they surely will), Man U and Chelsea would be on 77, with Arsenal only 3 points adrift, and Chelsea and Man U still have to play each other in a couple of weeks, so would still be anyone's...That said, despite my prediction above, my head tells me that Arsenal will be tired after last night, and Man U will rest players this evening, so Man U will probably win it, and that will basically be the end of Arsenal's title challenge.Despite things that have been said on here before, I do prefer Arsenal to the other 2, and my dad supports them. It's just the Wenger thing I said above that really puts me off!Maybe the top 3 will all lose all their remaining games, and the pool will storm to the title! ... yeah maybe not :-S Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1210-football-focus/page/103/#findComment-93559 Share on other sites

mockney piers
Really? West Ham losing isn't much call for comment, especially in something described as the dullest match of the season. We settled for 10th ages ago, and hopefully we won't lose out to Spurs, but both are blowing very hot and cold, so it's both team's to lose frankly. Jah Lush
Harry boy hasn't lost a game at Upton Park since he first went to Portsmouth. That's pretty impressive. Bet he was blowing bubbles all the way home. You're right though Piers it's mid-table mediocrity for both of us this season but at least Spurs have a cup in the cabinet which is more than you can say about the Arsenal who have just gone out of another competition. Sorry, just had to get that one in. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1210-football-focus/page/103/#findComment-93566 Share on other sites
