Hello, My husband and I have just bought a house in ED are moving in at the beginning of Oct. We are having our first baby at the beginning of February and I am keen to start antenatal classes in ED rather than where we live now. I would be really grateful for any antenatal classes and pregnancy yoga recommendations as I don?t know the area very well at the moment.

Many thanks.

Hi,

If you do a search for 'sillywoman' and send her a private message she should be able to help - she is our local NCT antenatal tutor.

There was also a thread on here recently about antenatal classes, I'm sure if you search (top right hand white box) for the word antenatal you will find it and I think it had some handy info in it.

Welcome to the area!

Molly

Kattykit, I second Molly's suggestions. Signing up for the NCT antenatal classes with sillywoman will not only stand you in good stead information wise, but also put you in touch with lots of local ladies having babies at the same time as you which will be invaluable if you are new to the area. Having said that, this forum has lots of opportunities for meet ups, and I am sure there will soon be a thread in the Family Room for Winter Babies to organise meet ups for those due in December/January/February.

With regards to pregnancy yoga, I know of classes at ESPH, Push Studios and Dulwich Therapy Rooms in East Dulwich and also at Brockwell Lido in Herne Hill (you can google all of them I believe), but do not have personal experience of any.

I do pregnancy yoga with Sitaram at King's hospital on a Saturday morning - Jo Harrison who takes the class is very good. They also do evening classes at Brockwell Lido as someone else mentioned. I'd definitely recommend Jo's class on a Saturday!

Hello,

I am a qualified yoga teacher (Satyananda Yoga) and teach in ED from my home studio. I am myself 8 months pregnant and have found yoga invaluable during my pregnancy. I offer private pre-natal classes of 1h 15min at ?18. (I might start group classes later in the year too).

If you are interested please let me know how many weeks you are, you yoga experience and when you would like to start classes. I am due in two weeks but am currently still teaching so you could have a trial class at reduced rate. Obviously when the little one arrives I will stop classes for a month or so but will continue as soon as I am fit again.

Meanwhile all the best for the two of you!

Hi KittyKat.....my baby is due at the end of Jan so not so far away from you. I am also looking into antenatal and am looking/hoping to meet people who are pregnant and due around the same time as I don't know any mums nearby!

There is a discussion elsewhere in the family room about NCT vs NHS antenatal....I am assuming you won't do the Kings one if you're not in the area? I'm not sure I can justify the cost of the NCT courses but if you want to meet mums to be in the area PM me for coffee sometime if you fancy it as it seems our babies are due very near to each other.

Welcome To East Dulwich!
