Laminate em!

But really - plastic fronted bibs definitely!

And I dress them according to the colour of the mush they are going to eat:

Porridge and rice = whites and creams

Tomatoey stuff = red

etc etc.

(It's the other end that's the problem - not many pretty yellow and brown clothes for girls)

If still in trouble I use Vanish - direct on the stain and in the washing machine drawer.

I think before Vanish existed people used lemon juice! And yes, out on the line in strong sunshine usually zaps any remaining stains.

I'm a big fan of the bibs with the scoop as they catch a lot of the stuff that gets dropped so you don't end up with food all over their laps.

Be careful with nappy soaks, they have some chemicals in that can be pretty fierce and especially if tumble dried the residual chemicals when heated to TD temps can actually attack some fibres and elastics.

It's why we don't advocate soaking nappies anymore.

    • I am sorry to  continue this, but I found your previous  comment about me very personal,  disturbing and upsetting, which was why I responded at length. I'm sorry it bored you. I try to stick to facts. I have investigated. You (and anyone else) can go into the "search" settings on here and  do a search on an author's name. So you can (I presume) find all my posts, including any which were  replying  to you. I can't imagine that they are in greater numbers than my replies to anyone else, but you can see for yourself. I guess you can probably also find examples of what you call my "usual sarcasm". I wasn't aware that l had a tendency to sarcasm, though I do find a lot of things funny.  There is no need to reply to this unless you actually find evidence in support of what you said. Sorry everybody else. I had to get it off my chest as I was lying awake last night worrying about it 😭
