Pipes groan after toilet flush- plumber needed

had something similar recently, also when I used bathroom taps/shower. turned out to be worn-out ceramic washer on the kitchen sink mixer tap. apparently the worn ceramic washer allowed air to be sucked up through kitchen tap when water was drawn upstairs and this caused the symptom of banging pipes. when I sussed the cost / hassle of replacing the washer wasn't much less than a basic mixer tap, I replaced the mixer tap keeping the old one as a spare.

    • Our cat Booboo has been missing since early Sunday morning (09 March).   He's a three-year-old male cat with black fur (short).    He's recognisable from having very big feet - I think about two extra toes on each paw.   He's very nervous of strangers and doesn't go out the front of our house - he mainly hangs out in the back gardens on our block (Goodrich/Barry/Friern Road).   If you spot him please let us know (07771915355).

    • That's useful, thank you - I've got a Primark near my work. Primark is (perhaps surprisingly) also one of the most diligent when it comes to labour rights in the supply chain, and I have to say the bits I've had from there have been quite good quality and lasted a long time. But otoh it's still fast fashion I suppose.
