gay club / pub / bar in ED!!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I moved in ED since April and i absolutely love the area...but why is there no gay place around? is there anything planned to get a proper gay place, like a pub or a club. Clapham or even Lewisham got their gay clubs, why not east dulwich?!

Why are so many people hung up on the idea of a gay bar, why not just mix in any pub and if you fancy someone approach them in there, whats the worst that can happen? Surely being gay has come a long way since the days of seedy hangouts in soho? Good grief..

Getting your head kicked in by a skin head maybe?

I do know what you mean Louisa, and it would be great if everyone could just hang out in the same places, but people haven't come along as much as we'd like to think, and there are still plenty of people out there who would still make a gay couple feel uncomfortable.

but on the other hand if a group want to mix together in a bar that is targeted at them, why does it bother you?

thanks for all these comments. but it seems that there is not much around. Justo ne comment for Louisa. I wouldn't ave any problem to have a gay bar/pub or club in ED which is opened to anyone, straight or gay, black or white. i don't care at all. But i found the tolerance much higher in a gay club towards straight people than in a straight club towards gay people...anyway i think going to Clapham is the only way.

    • I'd like to recommend Jordan from Gutter Maintenance Tech who we used recently to replace our tired and rotting soffits and facia board and guttering.  They use their own scaffold tower so it works out cheaper than other contractors but the work itself is of an excellent standard.  They said they would take two days and they stuck to this in spite of horrendous weather conditions.  Lovely people - we'd use them again with no reservations. https://www.gmtltd.org/

    • What I don't understand is those that are clamouring for this says there is an urgent need for more teachers yet they also say there are lots of places at schools for the children leaving private school due to dwindling pupil numbers (at primary especially). Surely then the teacher "gap" can, in part, be plugged by this?   This does seem a very blinkered, dog whistle attack on a certain part of private education and it will be interesting to see how the courts (and Europe) views it. Given the government accelerated the rollout to happen in the middle of a school year (which no-one thought was a good idea) probably shows they may not believe they are on strong ground - it feels like a "beg for forgiveness rather than ask for permission" situation.
