sela
Is it M&S going to open on Lotdship lane not far from Portico estate agent? It looks like supermarket inside but no signs outside. sela
Wonder why they hide it though. No mention to M&S and also not on their website. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/119246-ms/#findComment-1036537 Share on other sites

Abe_froeman
I think they are hoping to surprise East Dulwich when they open an M and S there. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/119246-ms/#findComment-1036564 Share on other sites
Louisa
Oh how I would laugh if the signage people arrived and put up 'Poindland' or 'Pound Stretcher'. I would love to see the faces of the folk walking past if it's done tomorrow on market day! I live in hope. Louisa. Abe_froeman
I could do with a poundland there as it happens. I need a new cable for my iphoen charger and Rye Lane is terribly far to walk. Louisa
Poundland is brilliant for biscuits and cakes, excellent value for money. Top brands too. Louisa. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/119246-ms/#findComment-1036578 Share on other sites
Jennys
I also love Poundland, especially for toothpaste etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/119246-ms/#findComment-1036582 Share on other sites
Phlox
Re toothpaste, lots of other stores have toothpaste for less than a pound, if that's what you are paying. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/119246-ms/#findComment-1036606 Share on other sites

DulwichFox
Passed by M&S this morning.. The panels are going up as we speak.. Think they are going to be black so the white may just be protective plastic covering..Foxy Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/119246-ms/#findComment-1036640 Share on other sites
Louisa
They aren't keen on passers by peaking in, or taking photographs. You were lucky to get away with that foxy. I'll certaintly be popping in to have a look, but long I can't see it being of much use to me. Handy for classy wines though.Louisa. worldwiser
How is it difficult to get away with taking a photo from across the street? Or even if it were right outside the door? Both are entirely legal. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/119246-ms/#findComment-1036661 Share on other sites
Louisa
I think an overly enthusiastic local tried to snap an interior shot whilst peaking through the window! Louisa. sela
There problem. they should seal the windows completely as from the street it is allowed to take photos. Jeremy
Louisa Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Handy for classy wines though.I'm not really one for posh wine, but we're already really well catered for on that front. I think the main use for this shop will be people looking for quick convenient grub, slightly better than (or without walking to) Sainsbury's. Louisa
Jeremy I think Sainsburys may be a little upset about M&S opening on the lane. It sort of takes away the convenience element for certain snacks ready meals and wines. I think sainsburys DKH may need to up their game, being so close to the station too. I think waitrose may be holding out on the success of M&S in this location before they take a punt on East Dulwich.Louisa. sela
Louise Sainsbury treats their customer like the rail companies treat treats their customer, hence I stopped shopping in Sainsbury. Bic Basher
Sainsbury's won't be too concerned. The new M&S is too far away, but is close enough to the Co-op. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/119246-ms/#findComment-1036729 Share on other sites
Louisa
Yeah Co-op will be in trouble for sure. M&S are actually cheaper on many products anyway. They'll probably fight tooth and nail not to lose that unit though... Louisa.
