Hi Everyone

Myself and my girlfriend have recently bought in ED, we love the area but looking to tap into a bit of local knowledge. We live on Darrell Road, at the bottom near Upland are a block of flats (Flats 1-8 - 10/12 Upland road)access via a blue door.

We find people are hanging around out side until very late at night, using bad language and generally quite unusual behvaiour with people shouting in all directions in an empty round which is a bit disturbing at night. Does anyone know the purpose of these flats (I've heard a few stories) or any rational to the slightly unusual behaviour? It's not a major issue but a little unsettling with my girlfriend coming home late at night and people hanging around acting very erratically.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply Goodliz, its not the hotel, its a flat complex right at the bottom of Darrell road where it intersects with Upland Road. We've spoken to the neighbours on the street and got a little history, I don't want to cause any animosity its just the regularity of the noise, bad language and being approached by people most days, which if I'm honest is pretty incoherent and a little unusual. I know it's not an easy one for the forum to advise on as its specific to one flat on our road but does concern me a little with ladies walking alone at night.

Thanks

The flats on the corner of Upland and Darrell were originally a mental health day centre run by SLAM called Number 10. As a money saving exercise, SLAM closed this centre many years ago and sold off to a private developer who by building an extension on, turned it into several flats. Most of the original attendees of No 10, have died or moved on so highly unlikely the current anti social behaviourists have anything to do with the ex centre.

    • @NewWave that’s a good idea!! Someone cannot book well in advance to cancel regularly . They should monitor that.  Also I didn’t know you can book two weeks in advance. I was not aware of it. It’s even  more frustrating now because I used to book regularly without any problem a week  in advance and on the day. I regret it!  I shouldn’t have done it. Unfortunately no money back. I guess I can try the gym for some body weight training but don’t know how it works! Thank you for your feedback
    • Yes, probably, but I do like the one I have.
    • @Jellybeanz In response you know nothing about me I will not list all the charities I support (with regular donations) I simply feel there are ample inexpensive opportunities for small buisnesses to advertise their services.
    • @angehouse  I've found the same issue..its been the same for over 2 years now...every class I want to attend has a waitlist even 10days in advance and then a few hours before spaces magically become available by which point I've made other plans or do'nt have my gym stuff to hand and I'm not in the area (I don'nt lead a life where I can just sit at home and amble down to the gym as and when..theres only a few classes I can get to on my days off work) Its very very annoying. I'm sure its the same people that book well in advance then cancel..if only they could monitor the people who do this repeatedly and bar them from advance bookings for 6 weeks or something to teach them a lesson. For this reason I have'nt been to any classes at the gym for well over a year and just use the gym. Its frustrating.
