Brockwell Lido

Recommended Posts

If you're heading for the Lido tomorrow get there before 12 - it'll be locked in at capacity by 1.30pm.

Take plenty of Redstripe and listen out for the humorous announcements ' Attention, attention and that means now!"

Remember ladies- if you are going to go topless then you should sit at the Brixton end.

See you there!

It opens at 10.00am and cloes 6.00pm at weekends. 6.5am - 8.00pm weekdays. Strange timings for an open air pool over a weekend in the summer

Was there today. No topless women nor a spliff in sight. Big crowds - there was some queuing at around midday. Cafe v. good, excellent carrot cake and portugese custard tarts. Huge variety of languages - most of which I failed to recognise, but they seemed to be mostly Eastern European.

Water warm (for Britain).

Seems the smoking ban has limited the entertainment.

Went yesterday and also noted the lack of exposed cans and weed, although the missus said she caught a sniff. Definitely less prominent but then the baby necessitates us sitting at the Herne Hill end...

Nevertheless, it's definitely the best outdoor pool in Greater East Dulwich.

yep if you're just going to knock out a few lengths, it might not be worth it - but if you compare it to other leisure activities like going to the cinema etc, ?5.20 is not too bad.

i was pleased that after all of the refurbishment, which looks quite pricey, the entry fee only went up 20p.

    • I'd like to recommend Jordan from Gutter Maintenance Tech who we used recently to replace our tired and rotting soffits and facia board and guttering.  They use their own scaffold tower so it works out cheaper than other contractors but the work itself is of an excellent standard.  They said they would take two days and they stuck to this in spite of horrendous weather conditions.  Lovely people - we'd use them again with no reservations. https://www.gmtltd.org/

    • What I don't understand is those that are clamouring for this says there is an urgent need for more teachers yet they also say there are lots of places at schools for the children leaving private school due to dwindling pupil numbers (at primary especially). Surely then the teacher "gap" can, in part, be plugged by this?   This does seem a very blinkered, dog whistle attack on a certain part of private education and it will be interesting to see how the courts (and Europe) views it. Given the government accelerated the rollout to happen in the middle of a school year (which no-one thought was a good idea) probably shows they may not believe they are on strong ground - it feels like a "beg for forgiveness rather than ask for permission" situation.
