tommi's burger joint

ordered via deliveroo. chicken burger fries and garlic mayo at the cost of ?16. unfortunately, the food was the same standard as Burger King. When the restaurant was informed they didn't they said it was the same as usual and no one else had complained.

Gourmet burger a lot better and same price. would recommend avoid this place. i think it is just a kitchen somewhere as the restaurant foes not exist at the address stated.

I do not eat many burgers and even less Pizza but it would seem to me that niether are suitable for delivery

even though 1,000s of Pizzas are delivered daily.

Pizzas need to be eaten straight from the oven and burgers straight from the grill.

Unlike Curry .. Burgers and Pizzas cannot be reheated sucessfully.

Having hot food delivered by bicycle is not going to be hot when it arrives.

and how much of the cost is delivery..

Just dont get it.

How much? ?16? That has to be the biggest take on I've ever heard and it knocks my 6/12 quid burger van comparison out the park.

What a bloody liberty. I don't know how these people get away with it. You could make your own burger and chips from scratch for less than that!

Tommis burger joint in Marylebone is excellent if you're talking about the same one. No way is it the same standard as Burger King.

Curries cannot be reheated successfully unless you have an authentic tandoori clay oven at home...I just don't get it? Why would anyone order it as take-away?!!

I've ordered GBK/Burger Bear a few times on deliveroo and when it arrives luke warm it's not great.

Pizzas the same, if not worse..

Basically don't order them when everyone else wants them so you get a quick delivery!

A curry can be zapped in the microwave and is still ok..

The Tommis burger place is the same as the Martlebone one, they are renting kitchen space from Deliveroo in ED.

Deliveroos SE22 hub is burger laden at the moment with five choices available for home delivery: Burger Bear, Honest, Flying Pig, Gourmet BK and Tommis. Which is also the order I'd personally rate them in. Burger Bear is really good and Honest somehow manage to deliver their signature Rosemary fried without them going soggy.

Tommi's is fine but not great I agree. But to be fair your ?16 also covers the Deliveroo charge /minimum which is the extra you pay to get quality restaurant food delivered to your door which you otherwise couldn't.

Throw in Meat Liqours arrival and you have TOTAL gourmet burger saturation.

Now I'm even more envious of all the choices. Sure some food travels better than others but each to their own, it's all about choice.

For once I agree with the Fox and Louisa too (I can't believe I've just written that). Anyone paying ?16 for a takeaway burger has more money than sense. In fact, most takeaways are generally shit IMHO.

Yea I generally agree with Jah Lush on this one too, so much take out stuff is crazy expensive when you look at what you can get to cook at home. Went to GB the other day and ended up paying ?30 for what is essentially 2 x burger and chips of the same quality as anywhere else; will not be going back.

agree with all points rip off even taking into account food cost 14 quid and deliveroo 2.50 delivery charge. was stuck in baby sitting so couldn't pop out.

gbk expensive but they have an app with discounts but at least the burgers ate consitent and pretty tasty. tommi burger east dulwich was really bad this time. it really was burger king standard. at yge price they charge you would really expect an excellent meal and at least some customer service if you bother to complain

As a big fan of the burger (apparently someone with more money than sense according to this thread), I would submit my own ranking as follows...

Burger Bear, Honest, Tommis, Gourmet BK, Flying Pig.

The one caveat I would add, which dovetails in with the OP, is that Tommis chicken burgers are terrible and I would not recommend ordering, but their beef burgers I think are up there.

We also had Patty & Bun in Peckham on deliveroo for a little while, which trumped them all.

Look forward to MeatLiquor joining the fray.

I would also add, that a number of people on here have referenced the fact that you could 'cook it at home' for much cheaper than getting it delivered.

I don't think this is news to anyone ordering takeaway. I think perhaps you are missing the whole point of getting a takeaway....

I have to respectfully disagree with your order. Burger Bear is good, but a little too sloppy for me to be top of the list.

My order would be:

Honest Burger, Bleecker Street, Lucky Chip, Burger Bear, Meatliquor/market/mission, Mother Flipper, Patty & Bun, Dirty Burger, Five Guys

Honest's 'Honest Burger' is clearly out in front for me. The difference is the meat they use (Ginger Pig's 32 day aged sirloin) and the red onion relish. Honourable mention for Burger Bear's Bacon relish.

I wouldn't put GBK, Byron or Flying Pig anywhere near those ^^^

And as for Deliveroo delivering cold food by bicycle- of course they don't; it would never survive as a business model if they did, never mind thrive as they are. They use thermal boxes/bags to deliver hot food. Not rocket science.

I'm with you as a London-wide burger ranking. But the original list was in reponse to DoverTheRoad's list which was just based on what Deliveroo deliver to East Dulwich....so a number of those fine establishments are out of bounds!:)

Had a terrible experience from Tommi's also.

My favourite in London is burger bear. Could be nostalgic, had it after a freezing cold day watching football and just made me feel so much better.....

We got Tommi's burgers from Deliveroo once... expensive, and completely underwhelming. Overcooked and topped with mayo, iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato... like something my mum would have cooked in 1987. Never again. Maybe the Marylebone restaurant is good, but this off-shoot (in Deliveroo's own kitchen, I believe) is not.

Honest is great and would thoroughly recommend (their "tribute" burger is my favourite).

Another place I like is Kitchen 54. I've never had their burgers, but the chicken wings are excellent, especially with the mamba sauce. "Philly Joe" fries, chicken waffle sandwich, and even the salads also very good.

Yes I agree, we had a takeaway from the TCC a couple of weeks ago which was supposed to contain fresh seasonable veg, I could only see frozen carrot slices, I have never seen anything as brown, straight in the bin, what a waste. Disgusting though.

real mince from WR, not too lean, squashed into shape, with lots of fried spanish onions, on a bun with a little salad, magic, quick, nutritious, tasty, chin wiping good.

I disagree that a curry can't be reheated. I often enjoy curry more the next day when it's been sitting overnight. I think the meat has more time to absorb the flavor.

Agree curry is bloody amazing the next day. Ditto pizza. For breakfast.

Jezza tommmis in marylebone is fantastic, clearly the deliveroo kitchen isn't the same stander of quality. Mind you, I've just realised the OP ordered a chicken burger. So that's probably why it was rank or maybe its just me that doesn't get the point of them.

I was at Dulwich Hamlet recently.. I was advised about the Burgers and warned not to go for their MEGA Burger what ever its called because it is seriously MASSIVE.

I had the basic burger.. A large bap.. with a juicy burger.. 'Fresh' salad.. red onions.. lettuce ..beef tomato..

Now I normally ditch the salad stuff but I scoffed the lot..

It was really nice.. and just ?5.00 (Fiver) amazing value.

Sounds good fox.

Would add that the basic burger at Honest is ?8.50 including loads of chips... I reckon that's pretty decent value too. As it's right next to the station, you can call in advance and pick up a takeaway on your way home.

Tommi's is overpriced at ?10.50 for the cheapest burger and fries, plus the ?2.50 delivery charge on top of that.

Numbers - yep you must be right, I'm sure their actual restaurant is way better.
