I thought the point was that the grapes are pre-weighed in the packing factory? The staff at the till have just assumed you've not applied a five-fingered discount and topped the bag up from another.

Don't shatter my illusions! I didn't get close enough to see titles but I'm hoping it was a little more serious...

  • 3 months later...

Obnoxious City twat on train to Leicester this morning sat opposite me on table seats, noisily tap-tap-tapping on his super-sized tablet phone (turn the key-taps sound off Extra Loud setting you knob), munching on something crunchy, while listening to music and variously banging away on his wanky lap top.

The bloke is winding me up.

He goes to the loo without even wondering if I'm interested in 'watching' his 'stuff'.

Fair game.

His phone rings (yes he left the big bastad on the table).

I answer.

Caller: "Can I speak to Tristran ?" (That seals it for me)

Me: "I'm afraid he's left the organisation".

Caller: "But.."

Me: "I'm sorry it's against policy to discuss leavers".

Hung up.

2 mins later bloke comes back, checks his phone, no missed calls.

Sudden Joy.

Next stop we luckily didn't go to same location.

ETA: Train was busy, people around saw what I did. No one said a word !

Only a London train could that happen (or perhaps he'd pissed them off too).

That is classic.. Hope his call was important. :)

Foxy.

He may not have a missed call, but the call will be on his call record .....

He will be able to put two and two together .....

Especially when the caller finds out that Tristram has not in fact left the organisation .......

Tristram will never know who took the call, though......

:))

I often wonder when a parent calls a child 'Tristan' whether the child 'grows into' that name.

On paper it's nice enough, but in real world time, it often grates on some. I'm sure (in my cod science mind) that it has the knock on effect of slightly isolating the child, who then grows up with an air of 'yes im bloody annoying' reticence about them.

And then we find ourselves viewing stories like this, and our prejudice toward a name like 'Tristan' comes out, coz we've all met the annoying ones. And so the prejudice is reinforced and we think to ourselves (rightly or wrongly) that 'Tristan' bloody well deserves what's coming to him.

Yes, I do.

That said, I actually know a very nice Tristan, but thinking about it, I bet he can be a right cunt at times. I blame the parents.

This thread seems to have slipped down the list .....

I ordered some stuff from Lakeland at half past six last night.

I got free overnight delivery and it arrived about 2pm this afternoon (hence the sudden joy, as they said between 12 and 4).

It all cost me under three quid because I had various vouchers.

I am admiring my lovely green Joseph Joseph non-slip chopping board with integrated knife sharpener, Joseph Joseph Handi-Zest zester/nutmet grater with integrated blade wiper, and lovely green Lakeland pan protectors as I type.

(The Value Twelve Cup Bun Tray not so much - but then, it's not green .....)

I like Lakeland. I use the one in Bluewater.

Had been looking for a Japanese Nikiri vegetable knife. Prices were ?180-?270 which was out of my price range..

But found a suitable Knife at Lake land..

http://lakelandcamel.scene7.com/is/image/LakelandCamel/17739_1?$300$

Its a great knife with 67 layers.. VERY sharp.. ?60.99 and I got a ?5 voucher (when spending) ?30.00 in the New Year.

Very Happy.

In several respects ......

You mentioned Lakeland bringing you joy.

Well having spent every sat morning watching James Martin chopping up vegetables with a blunt ended knife

I wanted to know what it was called and where I could buy one.

Well that type of knife is called a Nikiri ( Japanese Veg. Knife) and they are very expensive.

But I found one at Lakeland which was in my price range.

That's it.. Sorry you and Alan Medic find it worrying..

I consider myself a reasonable cook and it's nice to have good kitchen eqipment

I think you now qualify as my greatest critic.. Questioning every post I put up.

It's getting tiresome.

DF.

I think you have no sense of humour, Foxy. Or at least, if you have, it is rarely demonstrated on here.

We weren't criticising you, we were being playful.

Lighten up a bit. Try not to take yourself so seriously.

It's the festive season!

And this is the thread of joy!!
