poppy
Was feeling a little bit pleased with myself for having weaned my six-month-old off his dummy and replaced it with a little comfort blanket that he seems to enjoy snuggling up to. However, the last couple of nights he has taken to placing it over his entire face. The first couple of times I thought he'd done it by accident and took it off. Now, having watched him put it back repeatedly, and do the same with a teddy bear comforter, I'm sure he's doing it on purpose. It looks rather alarming - should I be worried about potential suffocation? Or is it a bit like rolling onto their tummies - once they're doing it themselves, there's no need to worry too much? ClareC
I think if he can purposely put it on his face he should be able to remove it too. I always use a crib sheet across my baby's cot so it's easier to change if she is a little sick. The last few days she has been untucking it and putting it over her face!?!? We panicked too but it's definitely something she conciously does! GinaG3
Agree with ClareC totally. By 6 months things like this are much safer as your baby is now aware of how to flap their arms about and get something our of their way if needs be.. duchessofdulwich
my ittle one likes to go to sleep with a blanet over her face (also coming up to 6 months). as long as its a light cloth/ blanket i dont see a problem with it. my baby is completley happy and i also feel by this stage she can shuffle herself round if something bothered her. poppy
Oh good, that's reassuring - I even checked to see if it was big enough to get wrapped around his head (it's not). He can definitely take it off again so I shall relax and just enjoy his funny little quirk! GinaG3
I tell you - babies are a lot more intelligent than we EVER give them credit for.
