jam_log
Summer is here (temporay as it maybe) and the parks are filling up with people enjoying the sunshine, which is lovely to see.But why of why do people not feel the need to clear up after themselves? I live opposite Peckham Rye, a beautiful park which I feel honored to have as a front garden, but it is so upsetting to see people walk off an leave all of thir rubbish from a picnis, when there are plenty of place to get rid of it on the way out.It really is very annoying.(rant over!) Keef
I noticed this when walking across Goose Green the other day. It's fecking out of order! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11646-rant/#findComment-329582 Share on other sites
Moos
I agree wholeheartedly. I also find it a bit odd that people look at me sideways when I pick up rubbish lying around and stick it in the bin. SeanMacGabhann
I'm with you guys (well, apart from Matt maybe - it's a habit that afflicts every "type" of person in my experience)The one thing that doesn't cost anything, need government interference, or any outside factor and STILL people are just tooo fekkin lazy. Let's all hang out on Goose Green and shout them all down when they do it! katie1997
hear, hear...yeah I don't understand litterbugs......if its not the parks, its left on public transport. Has anyone travelled home late on the 12 bus? Ugh its DISGUSTING. I once sat across from a guy who threw pistachio shells on the floor without a care in the world. sophiesofa
I'm one of those crazy people who run after people and hand back their litter saying "you dropped this" then I run off. Jah Lush
Ugh! I fecking hate litterbugs. They really annoy me. I was at a bus stop in Lewisham recently (where there are bins aplenty) and a few teenagers started dropping their drink cans and crisp packets to the ground so I said: "Oi! There's a bin right there, why don't you use it instead of dropping all your crap on the floor." To my amazement they picked everything up and binned it. Wonders will never cease.Another thing is why oh why are people still allowed to continue to eat their smelly food on public transport? Isn't it time this was banned? Just the smell of rancid half eaten old chicken bones and chips and whatnot that is left on the floor makes me want to hurl. sophiesofa
People laving semi-filled drinks on buses or trains which then fall over and spill everywhere - how do they ever think it's ok to do? Nero
Agreed. Hate litter droppers, and often ask offenders to pick their crap up after them. I also pick up after other people, especially tins and bottles on my road that I carry to the nearest bin or drop in a neighbour's recycling bin.I once asked a woman to stop dropping her peach stones on the floor of the bus but was interrupted by a man who told her to Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11646-rant/#findComment-329618 Share on other sites
Narnia
What's at least as bad if not worse in my opinion is people dropping litter out of their car windows. I hate that. Litter just doesn't happen in some European cities. Why does it happen here? sophiesofa
WOD, that reminds me: used tissues - disgusting. Not as bad as in the oxford circus changing rooms of top shop years ago someone had left a used tampon in the corner! There's a toilet at the other end of the shop - urgh, some poor bugger had to clean it up. jam_log
who would have though that a rant about droppinbg litter after a picnis would have ended with a used tampon in the corner of a changing room and a bum wiping stick!! computedshorty
Have you ever been delayed by disgarded Chewing Gum?I have, my Zimmer got well and trully stuck to the pavemant and I could not get it free, a kindly passer by saw my predicerment and came to my aid, and pulled it free, I thanked him, but moving on I noticed the four rubber feet had been left in the gum. When I got home after the Zimmer becoming ever heavier, I found that on each move on the Gum I got a circular disc cut out that got pushed up inside the hollow leg tube. I got it all out with a corkscrew. I dont think it was all Gum. ImpetuousVrouw
Surely leaves would be better than a stick to wipe your bum? Maybe she wasn't wiping her bum at all. intexasatthe moment
Ok - well here's the opposite of a litterbug and I believe a very rare sighting .Was with brother yesterday visiting mother .Brother was gluing something and needed rubber bands to secure joint so we went outside to look for those red bands dropped by posties.Happened to see a postie ,asked him if he had any " Yeah ,I hate seeing them all over the place I always recycle mine ."Produced neatly wound bunch of obviously old bands . cate
Yesterday evening in Peckham Rye Park there were tons of bags of rubbish left on the ground by the dog pooh bin as well as left outside the ordinary bins. What was that about? So by this morning they will have been dismembered by the foxes and spread about the park. People, take your rubbish home with you if there isn't space in the bins. Also, cramming your rubbish into a very full bin when you know there's a 90% chance it'll blow out again still counts as littering.I'm going to stop posting on this thread now as I am setting myself up for a big fall with all this high and mightiness...
