Can anyone recommend a specific type of builder? see below

We are looking for an excellent trustworthy builder who can help our unique situation. We need to replaster our cellar and close it off with a hatch at the top of the stairs and basically seal every millimetre of adjoining wall to the neighbouring property to stop the really potent cigarette smoke coming through from next door and up through the floorboards into our house. We have someone ready to re-floor the whole of the downstairs once this is done. The builders we used to renovate the house previously who we really trust can't fit us in until next year now but we need this doing now as we are a young family.

Has anyone else had this done?!

Any recommendations greatly welcome

Thank you

I had this problem in a previous house. The smoke came through the floorboards in under stairs cupboard through the door into the kitchen. No cellar. The kitchen was tiled, and so was downstairs hallway so it only came up through cupboard floorboards. I wish you luck but cannot recommend anyone, but there does seem to be quite a few recommended plasters on here. Have a search.

Edited to say I saw Andrew@Top Notch Plasterers recommended by a few people a few days ago.

    • Tennis got really popular over the COVID period and all the clubs round here ended up with long waiting lists.   Put yourself on the list for all of them anyway, things might move faster than you think, definitely for Dulwich Sports as they may be about to get planning permission to build new courts.  Ask about off-peak membership if you work from home, it's often much easier to get and some clubs will give priority to off-peak members when full places come up.   In the meantime, most of the clubs on your list offer group and individual coaching to non-members with a guest fee.   And sign up for local tennis leagues which organises matches at all levels in the local parks - there's a league for Kennington and Brockwell Parks which is really good and a slightly gentler one for Belair and Dulwich Parks.  I did this for a couple of years and had a lot of fun.   https://www.lta.org.uk/compete/adult/local-tennis-leagues/
    • I used Aria on Monday to solve some plumbing issues including a leaky outdoor tap.  Excellent service and a really nice guy. I'll be using him again no doubt.
    • We needed a switch replaced - small job but necessary. Terry responded very quickly to our request and was prompt to arrive, polite and professional and completed the job quickly and without fuss.
    • Does it need to be a tennis club specifically? JAGS has a lot of courts.
